So with your help I want to do a "fun" fundraiser to provide the Davies family with some financial support to help out with the crazy expenses of living out of a hotel in Toronto.

5 Quick Tips For Beating Your Cravings

It’s no secret that the New Year brings on new inspiration and desire for health.

I probably don’t need to remind you that less than 10% will still be working on their resolution in less than a few months.

I believe that one of the reasons people fall off the wagon is because of the "all or nothing" mindset.

No one can be "all" forever so this way of thinking is a 100% guarantee of failure.

One of the top reasons people struggle with sticking to healthy habits is because of the intensity of our cravings.

Processed foods are engineered to be addictive with all kinds of chemicals, sugars, and fats to make you want them more than real food.

It’s only natural that cravings are going to arise.

The good news is that the more you eat healthy foods that came directly from the Earth (and not boxes and bags), the more your cravings will subside.

So, today I wanted to share 5 ways that I personally navigate cravings so that they don’t get the best of me long term:

1. Lose the "all or nothing" mindset and create space in your plan for the foods you love – whether it’s cookies, pizza, ice cream – whatever! Plan to eat that stuff in a reasonable amount a few times a week. Not depriving yourself is actually the key to staying on track.

2. Pull out your portions – let’s say you love potato chips. Don’t bring the bag with you to the couch. I don’t have to tell you how easy it is to make a bag of chips disappear! Instead, take 1 portion and leave the rest in the cabinet. You'll be surprised how little you need to satisfy your craving when the whole bag isn't sitting right there in front of you.

3. Don’t bring your trigger foods into your home at all. If it’s not available when the cravings hits, I PROMISE you those intense cravings will pass and you’ll get past them with ease because you couldn’t just run to the fridge and indulge them.

4. Enjoy what you're eating. I know this sounds weird but so many of us eat in distraction whether it’s in front of the TV or in our cars. A Starbucks Grande Vanilla Latte and a breakfast sandwich clocks in at over 750 calories and you don't even realize that you ate it! Sitting down and paying attention to your foods and enjoying every bite is a great way to actually appreciate it!

5. Make sure it’s worth it. When you indulge a few times a week, be sure it’s not mindless and that it’s something you REALLY want and enjoy. Make it about the quality and not the quantity.

Why do we feel like we have to choose?

The family, career, health/fitness, freedom…

Because it’s possible.

Most people just don’t believe it.

Life is about AND…

Having health AND success.

Having family AND self-care.

We’ve got to get out of the mindset that we can’t have it all so you can actually begin to allow it into your life.

You know those families you look at and wonder how the parents seem so ā€œtogetherā€ and happy all of the time?

It’s because they’ve decided that they want it all…and they’ve created it.

No matter where you are in your life right now, you can decide you’re going to have it all too.

Then, it’s a matter of taking the steps to create it. It’s as simple as that.

Kettlebell Krusher - Melissa Green

I remember when Melissa started with us in March of last year. She was a little nervous about picking these "heavy" 15 and 20 pound kettlebells.

Today I'm thrilled to say she confidently swings 52 pounders and deadlifts 72 pounders - without any hesitation.

She bravely blasted through the limits of her comfort zone - which is why I'm proud to have Melissa as our Kettlebell Krusher for the week!

Why I chose IronCore Kettlebell Club

For a few years now I have been in search of a gym that I could enjoy going to and actually get results from. I have always wanted to see results and changes in my body figure and that is exactly what my workouts at this gym have been doing for me. I recently found IronCore.

It started with me hearing about a 6 week challenge! I was intrigued because I wasn’t stuck in a commitment that I might not enjoy. I have been coming to this gym since March of 2019 and I am just absolutely in love with everything about it; from the workouts, to the people who come and workout here and trainers.

There are multiple class times available and you can come at different times according to your schedule, they even have women only times. The atmosphere in this gym makes my everyday just that much better. Everyone who comes to workout treats you with the utmost respect and constantly offers support. The members really just want to see others do good things and better themselves. The amount of correction, one-on-one guidance and group support I receive while attending these classes is amazing.

At IronCore I feel like we are a family, everyone gets along and truly wants to see others succeed in their own goals. I like that the instructors watch for form and even help with the weights. If the move seems too easy they suggest heavier and if you are struggling they even recommend lighter. If you have for example knee issues, they will modify the routine to specifically fit you too!

I have tried other gyms, some similar to this type of gym and a few typical local gyms, none of which seemed to do the trick for me. I know exactly what it is like to walk into a gym and feel judged, unsure of what to do, which weights to grab and even how to do the type of moves that are done in a kettlebell gym. Walking into IronCore I did not feel any of that. I was instantly welcomed with open arms, with support, motivation, encouragement and I really always feel like part of their family.

IronCore is perfect if you’re looking to better yourself, your health, body figure, if you’re struggling with your weight or something as simple as getting stronger. Here you won't feel judged, shamed or uncomfortable. Here you WILL feel supported, encouraged, loved and welcomed.

Unfortunately, the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Ontario continues to rise due to community spread and sadly, it’s only going to get worse due to the nature of the virus.

The health and safety of our team and clients is our #1 priority, so out of an abundance of caution, it is with a heavy heart we have decided to close tonight Friday, March 20 at 8:00pm for the next two weeks.
