Perry Charles McDonald of Bothwell passed away peacefully at Chatham-Kent Hospice on May 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He will be remembered for his quick wit, unmatched strength, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.

Beloved husband and best friend of Joan (Dymock), proud father of Brodie (Lori), & Stacey (Jeff). Loving Papa to Tucker & Lane. Predeceased by parents Ross and Myrna (Lather), sister Michelle Winia, and father and mother-in-law John and Muriel Dymock (McGill). Survived by brother Mark, his loving sister-in-laws Marlene Maclean (Wayne), Janet Kinsman (Tom Gibbs), brother-in-law and great friend Jim Dymock. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews, and countless close friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A Bothwell boy through and through, Perry became a well known face in the community over his 65 years.

Starting in his early years as a spirited competitor and enforcer for the Bothwell Barons and later the Glencoe Centennials. If there was ever a fight to be had, you wanted Perry in your corner. Memories from those days still brought a smile to Perry’s face when stories were being told with his friends and family over a cold beer.

Perry then served the community for 20 years with the Bothwell Fire Department, rising to the rank of Captain; a role his son Brodie admired and would later follow. Responding to countless local emergencies, he selflessly put others first, earning accolades for his heroism and dedication.

He took great pride in carrying on Ross McDonald Excavating, spending many years behind the controls of an excavator doing work he loved in the community he called home. It brought him great joy working along side his cherished nephew Shawn Falconer for many years in the family business. Being very well known for his skill in running heavy equipment, Perry was the “go to” guy in the community for his work.

As much as he valued his work, Perry’s greatest pride was his family. At the centre of his life was Joan, his love and greatest supporter for more than 40 years. Through every challenge and every joy, they faced it all together. Those greatest joys were his son Brodie, and daughter Stacey. He was so proud of the lives and families that they built for themselves. The family cherishes a joyful day a few short months ago when Stacey married her longtime partner, Jeff. Smiling and singing along to Rush on the dance floor with his daughter on her wedding day, Perry was able to experience a beautiful moment every father dreams of.

If you want to know who Perry’s biggest fans are, you don’t have to look very far. To his two little “Magoos”, Papa wasn’t just a grandpa, he hung the moon. Although Tucker and Lane will grow up hearing stories about the kind of man their Papa was, for a brief time in their life they were able to experience the love he had for them both. Although they are still little, the bond they shared with Papa will stay with them forever.

Perry had a well known love for animals, especially for his pets; his dog Winnie, and furry grandson Hank, as well as the occasional shop cat (who he always gave unique nicknames to). Nicknames were Perry’s specialty. He was always delighted to pen a new name for those in his life, and to most people misfortune, they tended to stick.

Tough and resilient, he showed strength few could match which he proved true in his final years as he battled more than his share of of health challenges. He met every setback with the same stubborn resilience and toughness that defined his life, always joking that he “wasn’t a quitter”.

The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Sikkema and Stacey Kacan of the Thamesview Family Health team, Dr. Sanitini and the London Health Sciences Oncology team, Emergency Room Physician Dr. Colin McCabe, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance ICU and Chemotherapy units, and Chatham-Kent Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Celebration of Perry’s life will be held at the Florence Community Hall on May 30th, 2026 from 1:00-5:00pm. In keeping with Perry’s love of blue jeans and having a good time, the family requests guests dress casually to the celebration. If desired donations in Perry’s memory can be made to Chatham-Kent Hospice, and Chatham-Kent Pet and Wild Life Rescue. Online donations and condolences may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home, Bothwell.

In Loving Memory of Gerald “Gerry” Balazsity
July 5, 1950 – May 4, 2026

Peacefully, surrounded by love, Gerald Anton Alexander Balazsity of Bothwell passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the age of 75, following a courageous journey with cancer.

Gerry shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Karen for 45 years. He was a loving Dad to Kelly (Matt) Saunders and proud Grandpa to Jack and Julie, who brought endless joy to his life.

Gerry will be deeply missed by his siblings: Marion (Rick) Schroeder, Linda (Peter) Hebblethwaite, and Murray (Chris) Balazsity. He was a brother-in-law to Shirley Faulds, Joan (Lorne) Hay, and Keith (Debbie) McLean. "Uncle Gerry" will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. He is reunited with his parents, Alex and Arvilla Balazsity, and his in-laws, Howard and Anne McLean , brothers-in-law Barry Wiseman, Paul Faulds, and nephew Adam Balazsity .

Gerry spent most of his career managing and cutting meat for many years at the Bothwell Foodland, where he was known for working hard, but could be heard laughing every single day. In “retirement”, he truly embraced the beauty of the outdoors and loved his time working at the Wardsville Golf Course. He found genuine joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially the peace and satisfaction of cutting grass on a clear day.

An avid sportsman and social butterfly, Gerry enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, and rounds of golf with many friends, as well as dancing, attending the horse races, bicycling and travelling. But most of all, Gerry was his grandkids' biggest fan; never missing an activity or a chance to cheer them on from the sidelines.

The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to the Four Counties Hospital, LHS Cancer Clinic and the Chatham-Kent Hospice for their compassionate care. They treated Gerry with unwavering dignity and ensured he could continue to enjoy life’s simple pleasures until the end. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Four Counties Health Services Foundation or Chatham Kent Hospice Foundation would be preferred. Online condolences and donations may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com

Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories, laughter, and the many stories that defined Gerry’s life at the Bothwell Legion on Sunday, May 31st from 11-3pm. In honour of his love of the game and his time he spent at the course, the family encourages you to wear your favourite golf shirt.

Gerry’s kindness and laughter will live in our hearts forever. He lived by a simple but powerful philosophy: whatever you are doing—whether it is work or play—dedicate 100% of yourself to it and always look for the positive. Arrangements entrusted to the Badder & Robinson Funeral Home, Bothwell

Ronald Clare Meredith - better known as “Corn” - passed away peacefully on the morning of May 1, 2026, surrounded by family in the farmhouse he built with his own two hands.

Born in Chatham on February 6, 1934, he lived 92 strong, resilient years. Since Christmas 2025, Ron had been bravely facing a palliative diagnosis of congestive heart failure. He spent his final months at home on the farm, as he wished, being cared for and deeply loved by his devoted and loyal wife of 58 years, Lorraine (Kelly) Meredith.

Above all, Ron was a family man. He was the son of Wilfred and Ruth (Vinson) Meredith, and a devoted lifelong father to David Meredith, Beth Gilhuly, and Colleen (Steve) Antunes. He was a very proud grandfather to Morgan (Brandon) Ireland, Julia Hughson, and Miguel and Lucas Antunes, as well as a soon-to-be great-grandfather to his first great-grandson, expected this month.

Ron spent his life doing what he loved - farming. He earned the nickname “Corn” after becoming known as the “Corn King” of the area among his fellow farmers. In addition to farming, he also worked a 30-year career as an oil truck driver for Harold Marcus, something he was very proud of. When he was not on the road, farming, or spending time with his family, Ron could be found watching a baseball game or enjoying the horse races. He spent countless Sundays with friends and family at the Dresden Raceway and loved attending The Little Brown Jug each September with his children. Ron also played hockey and baseball throughout his life, where he made many lifelong friends.

In addition to being a family man, Ron was a simple man. He loved living a slow life, often reminding his family to “take your time” or asking, “what’s your rush?” They are forever grateful for his constant reminders to appreciate the simple pleasures in life - whether in the little moments or really in any moment involving chocolate. Like any Meredith boy, Ron had a sweet tooth. He grew up loving the chocolate cake his mother made for him, and until his very last day, he would never turn down a piece of pie - especially if shared with his brother Edgar - or a piece of black licorice. He was known to always have a toothpick in his mouth and a can of Coke in his hand.

Ron had fond memories of his childhood, which he spent on the family farm with his six brothers and one sister. He loved playing euchre and baseball with his siblings. Ron is survived by his brothers Bob (Judy) Meredith, Edgar Meredith, and Gordon (Linda) Meredith; sisters-in-law Karen Meredith, Joyce Meredith, and Veronica (Jim) Sewell; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Doug (Marylou) Meredith, Bill Meredith, and Murray Meredith, and his sister Mary Meredith. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law Jimmy Kelly, and his mother- and father-in-law, Audrey and Glen Kelly.

Visitation will be held at Badder & Robinson Funeral Home in Bothwell on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Counties Health Services in appreciation of their outstanding care. The family also extends sincere thanks to all of the PSWs (especially Kristie Lee), nurses, and healthcare professionals who helped Ron remain comfortable at home during his final days surrounded by family.

Online condolences may be left at www.badderfuneralhome.com.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Scott Webber, who peacefully entered into rest on April 29, 2026, at the age of 66, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Chatham on April 25, 1960, Stephen was the beloved son of Harold Vernon Webber and Barbara Ann Webber (nee Godfree). He was the cherished husband and best friend of Heather Webber, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship.

Stephen was a dedicated father who took immense pride in his children: Matthew (Adeline), Kyle (Angie), Colin Stoliker (Brittany), Bryce Stoliker, and Tye Stoliker (Shauna). He was the adored “Grandpa” to Emery, Lily, Abigail, Layla, Wes, Hudson and Oakley, each of whom brought a special spark to his life. He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Doug (Lori) and Paul (Beth), as well as his extended family and many dear friends.

A man of integrity and service, Stephen began his career with the Chatham-Kent Police Service in 1983. For 35 years, he served his community with honor and dedication until his official retirement in 2018.

Outside of his uniform, Stephen was a man of many passions. He was a true music enthusiast, often found tinkering with or hunting for vintage stereo equipment to find that perfect sound. On game days, he was a steadfast supporter of his favourite teams, cheering loudly for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Detroit Lions, and the Michigan Wolverines. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the quiet of the outdoors, enjoying the simplicity of camping and the community at his trailer.

Stephen’s legacy of service, his love for a good vintage record, and his unwavering devotion to his family will never be forgotten.

At Stephen’s request, no funeral service will take place; but rather an open family and friends gathering to celebrate his life at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Badder Funeral Home & Reception Centre, Dresden.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
