You've heard that muscle burns more calories than fat. But maintaining our mass as we age is a big challenge. Calorie restriction to lose weight means you are probably losing bone and muscle mass. Strength training gives two main gifts: 1. maintain or even build muscle which boosts metabolism and 2. protects muscle and bone tissue during weight loss.
