This past Wednesday, October 22, we officially celebrated the Grand Opening of the new and improved greenhouse at Fly Road, a milestone made possible through a generous $75,000 donation from Credit Union
More than just a space to grow plants, this greenhouse is part of Bethesda’s Gardening Program, designed to cultivate confidence, independence, and community connections for adults living with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. Over the last several years since the program began, the efforts of these individuals have produced more than 800lbs of fresh vegetables and produce to Community Care of West Niagara, turning their gardening into a powerful act of giving back.
“The greenhouse is a place where individuals can learn, connect, and experience the joy of seeing something they’ve cared for thrive,” said Paul McGowan, CEO of Bethesda. “We are incredibly thankful to Meridian for their generous grant toward this initiative. Their support goes beyond funding- it’s a true testament to the power of collaboration and their vision for a better future for all.”
This new space allows participants to garden year-round, engage in therapeutic activities, and explore their creativity, all while growing fresh produce and personal pride.
Together, Bethesda and Meridian are sowing the seeds of hope, empowerment, and inclusion—ensuring every individual has the opportunity to flourish.
