This year I wanted to try to learn as much as I could about food sustainability. πŸ₯¦

One of the things I did was to cook and eat as seasonally and farm to table as possible. It’s still a work in progress but i’ve taken the time to create new recipes using in season foods that I’ll likely continue to make forever. We get a farm food box delivered every week and it’s been exciting to put together the pieces of how i’ll use the ingredients in our weekly menu plan. I can’t wait for all summer produce πŸ“

I am also doing lots of really good reading and uncovering gaps in the Canadian food system that we will hopefully see change over the years. Being a food manufacturer I see it even in my own business. πŸ€“

it’s not quite perfect just yet and it probably never will be but it’s a work in progress that I’m committed to doing.

One of the most important things you can do to support your nutrition is to have a plan βœ…

Having a plan and prep day can save time, money and stress ☺️ It prevents you from over spending on groceries, being hungry with no food available (this is usually when we will grab quick carbs!) and having a good balance of nutrition during the week.

Here’s a few things you can do to make it simple:

Batch cook proteins for lunches
Wash and cut your veggies
Order your groceries for delivery
Get help with a meal plan if needed
Try a new recipe
Keep healthy snacks in places you might get hungry like the car, your desk or your locker
