Dr. Laakso and her RPN Connie and Medical Aides Kendall and Alana (on maternity leave), would like to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday (if you don’t observe Christmas) and a Happy AND HEALTHY New Year 2026! Dr. Laakso and her staff will be away from the office December 22, 2025 to January 5, 2026. The Clinic itself will be open for walk in clinic as follows:

Monday Dec 22- 9am-1pm and 5-8pm
Tuesday Dec 23- 9am-1pm and 5-8pm
Wednesday Dec 24- 9am-1pm ONLY
Saturday Dec 27- 10am-1pm

Monday Dec 29- 9am-1pm and 5-8pm
Tuesday Dec 30- 9am-1pm and 5-8pm
Wednesday Dec 31- 9am-1pm ONLY
Saturday January 3- 10am-1pm

There are limited Reception so if you have an issue that can’t wait to January 6th give the office a call- 807-346-1000.

Dr. Laakso will still be receiving messages but turn around time will be delayed so please be patient.

We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2026!

I am pleased to announce that come October 2025, I am welcoming Nurse Connie Lennox, RPN, to my practice here at The Port Arthur Health Centre. She will bring ~ 20 years of experience in providing patient-centred care to our patients. She will be assisting with well-baby visits and immunizations, cryotherapy, injections for Vit B12 and more within her scope of practice and within a delegated acts framework set out by our respective Colleges. More info to come in October 2025. ❤️

Please help me take this opportunity to wish NP Haleigh the warmest wishes as she embarks on her new journey as a Nurse Practitioner. She has been part of the Team Northwood (now Port Arthur Clinic) family with me for about a year and a half. She started off first as an NP student and as of November 1st, 2024 as an NP helping out with my practice.

Haleigh has taken a position with a local organization where she will take on her own roster. Please wish her well for those lucky enough to see her before she heads to her new workplace. Her last day will be August 15th!

Congrats Haleigh on your new fancy job 🥳

The entire Port Arthur Health Centre is closed for the Canada Day long weekend Monday June 30th and Tuesday July 1st, 2025. We wish everyone a safe and happy celebration!

Thank you to all the patients who helped us settle in to our new home at the PAHC this week! Week 1 is in the books! While we encountered a technological snafu here and there on a whole it was a successful week!

As patients come into their appointments, we are taking the time to update everyone’s new charts. Your help with this is greatly appreciated as we want your chart to reflect….YOU! ☺️

Please bring in your most up to date med list (or bring your meds in) to your next visit as this will speed up the process and ensure it is accurate!

We have physically left the Northwood Park Health Centre after 1.5 days of packing and after 4 years being at Janzen’s Northwood! Bittersweet goodbyes to our Janzen’s friends 🫶🏼 ❤️

We are now settling in and setting up our new spaces to welcome our patients next week!

If you need medical attention of a non-emergent nature, the Port Arthur Walk In Clinics run:
—> Monday to Thursday 9am-12pm and 5-8pm
—> Saturday 10am-1pm

Call 807-346-1000

We ask our patients to utilize this walk-in only as it is only for our patients!

Dr. Laakso and the Staff of the Northwood Park Health Centre want to take this opportunity to thank all of our patients over the last 4 years!

From the beginning, as a public walk-in clinic, to taking over the care of patients that transferred from Dr. Capricci, we have enjoyed serving you at our Janzen Northwood Location

We will be closed this week as we move Dr Laakso’s practice to the Port Arthur Health Centre (PAHC). If you have a booked appointment or phone call this week, these are still continuing as planned. We will not be able to accommodate any additional fit ins this week.

On that note, if you need care this week and cannot wait until we reopen next Monday June 9th at the Port Arthur Health Centre, please note that all patients of Dr. Laakso can now use the walk-in clinic at PAHC.

Hours of the PAHC Walk-In are:
Mon to Thurs 9am-12pm and 5-8pm
Saturdays 10am-1pm
