✨✨ Are you expecting and struggling to sleep?

You’re not alone 🫶🏼

Swipe through to learn a few helpful tips to get better rest during your pregnancy ➡️

1. It can be hard to find a comfortable position to sleep in. A pregnancy pillow can be helpful or a pillow between your legs to support your hips into alignment.
✨ I also added a memory foam mattress topper to help alleviate hip and shoulder pain.

2. It’s really important to stay hydrated during pregnancy. Try to hydrate well during the day and consider limiting fluids closer to bedtime. Inevitably you’ll have to get up and p*e overnight.
✨ when you do get up try not to look at your phone

3. If you find your mind racing when you try to go to sleep at night consider journaling. Try putting those thoughts and worries down on paper.
🤍Reach out for support if you find yourself having intrusive thoughts.

4. To all my fellow Mamas struggling with GERD, you may notice your symptoms worsen when you lie down. Try to avoid eating anything heavy in the evening or eating too close to bedtime.

5. I’ve been a shift worker for a long time and I love naps. It can make a world of difference especially if your night time sleep has been disrupted. If you can’t nap, try just lying down for 20 minutes with your eyes closed.
✨A nap may do more for you than an afternoon cup of coffee.

🥦🥦Happy 420 to those who celebrate🎉

The research on the safety of using cannabis during pregnancy and while breastfeeding is pretty limited.

✨Current guidelines as per Health Canada suggest the safest choice is to abstain from using cannabis.

✨The Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists also recommends that cannabis be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

📖Some studies have found that babies born to mothers who use cannabis had an increased risk of lower birth weights and preterm labour. 🫶🏼

What we do know is that it can pass through breast milk to baby and that the more the mother uses the higher the risks are for baby. 🐣

🤰🏻We also know that THC, one of the active components in cannabis is able to cross the placenta.

💚If you are unable to completely stop, using less cannabis, less often can reduce potential harm.

Talk to your healthcare provider if you need support with your cannabis use.

There’s a lot of traditional wisdom about foods, herbs and that support lactation from different cultures around the world.

✨Some of these foods are beneficial because they are nutrient dense and replenish vitamins and minerals that postpartum mothers need to heal and be able to produce milk.

Soups with bone broth🍲
Low Mercury Fish 🐟
Adding Brewer’s/Nutritional Yeast and flax seeds to your baking 🧁

Keep reading for s few safety tips from your local Mama Coach and ER Nurse. ⬇️

🚨 Attach lights and reflective materials to your stroller/wagon. The more lights the better!

🔦 Use flashlights, headlamps, and reflective materials on your costumes. Make sure cars can see your little one’s in the dark.

🍬🍭 Hard and Chewy candies are a choking risk. Chew your little one’s candy and ensure any treats they are enjoying are developmentally appropriate.

🚙 Remove bulky costumes before buckeling up in the car.
