A new team dedicated to transporting neonates and infants has started performing patient transfers at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC).

In collaboration with the existing provincial transport teams and Ornge, TBRHSC’s Paediatric Emergency Transport Team (PETT) is drastically improving access to care and reducing wait times for patients in communities across Northwestern Ontario, so they can receive the emergency care they need as fast as possible.

We are excited to introduce our new student, Hannah!

🟡Hannah is joining the Yellow Team.

“My name is Hannah, and I am in my final year of the Compressed Nursing Program at Lakehead. I am originally from the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia coming from a farming family. I completed my first degree at Acadia University in Psychology and then began pursuing more medical fields such as nursing. I wanted to experience nursing in a larger community that served wider demographics, which drew me to Thunder Bay. I completed my second year (childbearing) placement in Thunder Bay where I had experiences on the maternal newborn, labour, and delivery and NICU units. In my downtime my hobbies include hiking and being outdoors, skiing, baking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I am looking forward to being part of the team and meeting all the clients. I am thankful for the opportunity to be part of the care team for clients going through live changing experiences.”

✨Baby Whisperer of the Year✨

We are so excited to announce that the Midwife with the most catches this year is our one and only Midwife Lorena !!

Lorena has been a practicing Midwife at CMTB since her graduation over five years ago now! She’s an exceptionally hard worker as a Midwife, Mother and, a researcher. When she’s not catching babies she can typically be found with her family in the outdoors, traveling or, with a cat on her lap and a good book.

We are so honoured to have her as a colleague and a friend at our practice!

From all of us at CMTB Happy New Year to everyone!
