When your job is to run toward danger, your body takes the hit.

Jamie, 40, is a firefighter who came into our clinic with persistent low back pain that had become “part of the job.” Long shifts, heavy lifting, awkward movements, and the weight of his gear were catching up to him—both on the job and at home.

What was causing the pain?�Years of repetitive strain and limited recovery time led to joint restriction, muscle tension, and reduced mobility in his low back.

Nick came to us yesterday with pain in his back,
Said he pulled something while unloading his sack.
His work, he explained, is all in one night,
Since then, he admitted, something wasn't quite right.

He complained of an ache that, at times, was extreme,
And during these twitches, he wanted to scream.
Dr.Braun took his history, with a physical too,
An exceptional chiropractor, he knew just what to do.

It looks like back spasms, Dr. Braun shared with Nick.
Too much work in one night, likely working too quick.
I've got a plan, we can start treatment right now.
I'll take a minute and explain to you how:

I start with your joints, you are in so much pain,
I work with my hands, restoring movement's my aim.
And then your soft tissue I massage with great skill,
You gain relief, less pain if you will.

When you go home, I want you to rest.
Cold compresses are going to help you heal best.
If your back isn't better this time next week,
Come back to the office and I'll take a peek.

Here are some exercises I would like you to try,
So this time next year you are feeling more spry.
Nick leapt to his feet, and thanked Dr. Braun,
Who was now shocked to see reindeer on the lawn.

Nick sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle,
Nick waved and exclaimed as they went on their way,
Merry Christmas to all here in Thunder Bay. 🎄
