🌿 A Closing of Wellspring and a Turning

After much reflection, I am sharing that I will be formally closing Wellspring following a recent stage IV rare cancer diagnosis.

This decision has not come lightly. My work as a trauma-informed psychotherapist — particularly alongside Indigenous communities and survivors of complex trauma — has been one of the greatest honours of my life and has shaped me profoundly.

At this time, my focus must shift fully toward my health and treatment. While the future remains uncertain, I am prioritizing presence, integrity, and careful stewardship of the time and energy available to me.

I am deeply grateful to the clients, colleagues, Elders, mentors, and communities who trusted me with their stories and allowed me to walk alongside them. The work mattered. It will always matter.

Thank you for your support, your collaboration, and your commitment to the ongoing work of healing in our communities.

With gratitude,
Louise

Happy International Cat Day!!!

While cats can reduce stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness and help you to focus on the bigger picture, they can also have negative or neutral effects. Like increased anxiety from the stresses of ownership or you might notice no improvement from them at all.

Consider if having a cat does or would benefit your mental health!!

Today's DBT Skill: Self Soothing

Self Soothing is the act of counteracting stress and crisis' by seeking out and doing things that are familiar, relaxing, comforting and soothing for you. This could be seeking out beautiful sights like sunrises, scents that bring up good memory's, or eating one of your favourite foods.

If you are ever feeling overwhelmed by life take a minute to slow down and practice something soothing to you.
