🌟 Meet Christine – A True Gem at Chartwell Isabella! 🌟
This year marks Christine’s 7th year of service with us, and we couldn’t be more proud to have her as part of our team. Christine is also the proud recipient of the “Front Line Worker of the Year 2023” award – a well-deserved recognition of her dedication and care. 👏
✨Born in Fort William with a German background, Christine is a proud mom of 3 and grandmother to 6 beautiful grandchildren. Family means everything to her, and that same love shines through in the way she connects with our residents. Known for her laughter and sense of humor, she fills the halls with warmth and positivity, always joking around and sharing smiles with everyone she meets.
When asked about her favorite part of working at Chartwell Isabella, Christine shared:
💬 “It’s the smiles and greetings I receive every morning from residents and staff that make my day. I love meeting new residents and staff from different cultures and learning about residents’ walks of life. The residents make me feel good, just like my own parents. I want them to know that I love them, and I always try to treat them the way I want to be treated.”

Jardins d’Iberville: Where Nature Brings People Together

At Chartwell Rosemont Les Quartiers in Montreal, QC, residents turned an abandoned stretch of land into a flourishing garden filled with flowers and biodiversity, now known as the Jardins d’Iberville. 🌸🌿

Launched four years ago as a grassroots project, the gardens have become a source of pride, creativity and connection for seniors in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. From planting and painting to simply spending time outdoors, everyone plays a part in this “little garden of happiness.”

Monique, a joyful and adventurous senior from Candiac, QC, always dreamed of taking to the skies in a hot air balloon. Inspired by her granddaughter’s own flight as a teen, Monique wished to share a similar experience with her family.

Thanks to Chartwell Wish of a Lifetime - Rêver pour la vie, that dream took flight at the International Balloon Festival in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Surrounded by loved ones, Monique rose into the sky and into a moment she’ll never forget; one filled with beauty, connection, and wonder.

🌸 Say hello to Delna! 🌸

Delna has been a part of our Isabella family for almost 3 years, and many of our residents know her for her kind heart and the extra care she puts into her work every single day. 💕

Before moving to Canada, Delna worked as a social worker in India, where she learned so much about dementia and how to communicate with compassion. She says one of her favorite parts of working here is caring for residents living with dementia, making sure they feel safe, happy, and supported.

Delna is originally from Kerala, India, also known as “God’s Own Country” 🌴—a place famous for its coconut trees, beaches, forests, and houseboats! She’s also a fantastic cook, and her specialty is Kappa fish curry (fish curry served with a dish similar to sweet potato). Yum! 🍲

One of Delna’s most cherished memories at Isabella was when she returned after maternity leave:
✨ “I worried the residents might not remember me after being away for over a year. But when I came back, they welcomed me with open arms and smiles. Everyone remembered me, and it felt so good to be back—it was such a heartwarming moment.”

We are so lucky to have Delna as part of our Isabella family, and we thank her for the warmth, compassion, and dedication she brings every day. 💐

🌟 Meet Shraddaben! 🌟

We’re excited to introduce Shraddaben, a valued member of our Culinary team who joined Chartwell Isabella in May 2025. Since the beginning, she’s loved being here, especially because of our supportive and cooperative staff who are always ready to help one another. 🤝✨

Originally from India, Shraddaben moved to Canada in December 2024 for her studies. Interestingly, she never enjoyed being in the kitchen back home—but here at Chartwell Isabella, it feels completely different! Surrounded by the energy of her teammates, she feels motivated and inspired as she watches others cooking and serving with passion. 👩‍🍳💚

🌍 Fun fact: Shraddaben loves learning new languages and is currently learning Spanish! Her hidden talent definitely lies in communication—not in drawing or art, which she admits is not her cup of tea. 🎨🚫

One of her most memorable moments here was celebrating a resident’s 100th birthday. The joy and happiness she witnessed that day truly embodied “Making People’s Lives Better,” and she feels grateful to connect with our residents in such meaningful ways. 🎉💐

✨ Here’s a story that will make you smile! ✨
Everybody, meet Ashwin!
Ashwin is a proud member of our care team who has been supporting the residents of Chartwell Isabella for just over 3 years. As one of our INSPIRE Ambassadors, Ashwin delivers exceptional experiences to our residents every single day.
Originally from India, Ashwin lives apart from his family and describes working at Chartwell Isabella as “being with family away from family.” He takes great pride in providing care and goes above and beyond to meet the needs of our residents.
You’ll often find Ashwin joining in on daily activities—whether it’s playing games, dancing, or sharing a good laugh! One of his favorite memories happened last April, just before he left for India to get married. The lady residents insisted on having one last dance with him before the big day—and Ashwin didn’t disappoint! The dance floor was full of smiles and laughter that day.
Although he’s now happily married, he jokes that he still has permission to dance with the residents! Ashwin also has a great sense of humor—he once said, “I never made beds back home until I started working here. Now I can make a really good bed.”
Thank you, Ashwin, for bringing so much joy and warmth to Chartwell Isabella! ❤️

🌿 This Month’s Wellness Connection: Nature, Adventure & Well-being! 🌿

This month, our 'Wellness Connection with Steve' at Chartwell Isabella was a refreshing reminder that health isn’t just about the body—it’s about the mind and soul too. Instead of the usual health tips, Steve took us on a virtual backcountry adventure as he shared his incredible 5-day canoeing and camping trip in Quetico Provincial Park! 🛶
Residents of Chartwell Isabella joined Steve on a virtual journey as he recounted paddling 75 km through 13 beautiful lakes with his wife and two daughters. We got to see stunning pictures and even watch videos from their backcountry canoeing trip—it truly felt like we were there!
The session sparked wonderful conversations, with some residents sharing their own camping memories. It was a day full of inspiration, nature, and adventure—without leaving home!

🌟 Meet Glorie! 🌟
Glorie is one of our amazing residents here at Chartwell Isabella, and she recently shared her wonderful life story with us!
Born at the Port Arthur hospital, Glorie later moved to Terrace Bay after getting married. She is blessed with two wonderful kids, grandkids, and now great-grandkids who bring so much joy to her life. 💕
Glorie dedicated 39 years of her career as a Kindergarten teacher in Schreiber and Terrace Bay. After retirement, her passion for giving back continued as she volunteered with her church and became a proud member of Hospice.
Glorie joined the Chartwell Isabella family 2 and a half years ago, and when asked what she enjoys most about living here, she smiled and said:
✨ “It’s the staff, the entertainment, the crafts… and the best part is, I could bring my cat Bella with me!” She added that she feels “treated like royalty” here. 👑
Since moving in, Glorie has embraced new hobbies like knitting and painting. Her favorite meals? Perogies with sour cream, delicious desserts, and a classic cold plate! 🥟🍰
What makes Chartwell Isabella special to her? “It’s the teamwork of the staff and their care as a family,” she shared warmly.
And here’s a fun fact: Glorie has a hidden talent – she was once a Ballet and Tap dancer! 🩰💃
We’re so lucky to have Glorie as part of our family at Chartwell Isabella. ❤️
