Is it true that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger? Friedrich Nietzsche coined that famous phrase, but the psychology behind it is a bit more complicated than the greeting cards suggest.

While it is true that we get stronger when we add resistance—like lifting weights at the gym or gradually facing anxiety-provoking situations—the key is progressive resistance. Dealing with normal life setbacks can build emotional muscle, but major crises and traumatic incidents often do the exact opposite. Recent research shows that extreme distress actually sensitizes us and increases the risk of mental health struggles in the future. Instead of making us stronger, these events can actually make us more vulnerable. Let's stop romanticizing hardship and start understanding the real difference between healthy growth and actual damage.

Our passion for helping others inspired us to open a small private practice in 2007.

With only a small yellow page ad + positive word-of-mouth, our little practice quickly grew, requiring us to relocate to a more prominent office building within a year.

Since that time, we have remained committed to Our Values, our passion for excellence + desire to help people with a warm, down to earth style.

Today, we are proud to serve the community of Thunder Bay + Northwestern Ontario with 30 team members who are committed to providing an exceptional client experience.
