February was Recreational Therapy Month!

Here at GJCC, we are so thankful to be able to offer recreational programming for our clients. February was filled with exciting recreational opportunities – from sledge-hockey athletes taking centre stage at Fort William Gardens, to clients making social connections through various group programming. Whether it’s building strength through adaptive sports, boosting confidence with creative expression, or sparking joy through shared laughter, recreational therapy proves that fun isn’t just fun — it’s therapeutic!

Let’s continue to play, connect, and celebrate life through recreation! March Break programming is now available for registration.

65 years represents thousands of children supported, families empowered, and lives impacted, all made possible through collaboration, compassion, and community care.

From humble, grassroots beginnings to the specialized, family-centred services offered today, George Jeffrey Children’s Centre has continued to evolve while staying true to its mission: enriching lives through client-centred care.

This year is a time to reflect on how far we’ve come and to look forward with purpose and hope.

Youth (aged 11yrs +):
Bring your game face because we will be playing some minute to win it style games. Some will be individual and some you will have to work together as a team to succeed. We will finish the evening off with a tasty slice of pizza. *Call reception at 807-623-4381 to register.*

Caregivers:
During this time, caregivers are invited to an adult socialization time where there will be a presentation from HEAL (Healthy Eating Active Living) YOUTH program. They will be sharing strategies and programs that they offer for youth. Light refreshments and snacks will be offered. We will not be able to offer Child minding but will provide activities for siblings to participate in.

If you do not want to participate in the caregiver program, that is ok, your child is still welcome to come to the Youth PACK but we do require guardians to stay in the lobby or in their car during the Youth PACK. If you are a caregiver of a child 11yrs+, but your child does not want to attend Youth PACK you are still welcome to attend the caregiver program.

Why we’re celebrating 💙

This year marks 65 years since incorporation, a moment that shaped who we are today, opening the door to sustainable funding, expanded services, and deeper community impact. It’s a time to honour where we started, recognize the people who built this Centre, and look ahead to the possibilities still to come.

65 Years of Possibility and we’re just getting started.
