IS BOTOX AND FILLER A VANITY THING??

This is an expression very frequently mentioned.

I would certainly say that this is NOT the case.

All of us do some or the other form of self care to maintain ourselves and make us feel good.

All beauty products look after the 'EXTERNAL ASPECT' and do not deal with any of the inside stuff.

The advantage of botox and fillers is the ability the improve the 'INTERNAL ASPECT'. Both products are very safe and give outstanding results done correctly with appropriate expertise.

Of course you have to look after yourself to complement this and this includes:
-Drinking plenty of water
-Not smoking
-Exercise
-Sunscreening at all times.

Is the navel important in a tummy tuck?

To my mind this is critical as the centring point of your tummy. A tummy tuck without an appropriate belly button does not give the best appearance, as the beauty of the abdomen lies in a well constructed belly button.

I spend an average of 30min reconstructing this key area due to its importance. A beautiful belly button should be an 'innie' and with hooding at the top.

Care for a belly button after surgery is very specific and will ensure the best outcome.

So please discuss this key aspect before you go in for a tummy tuck procedure.

Caesarean section-scar-tummy tuck covered by OHIP?

This is a frequent question I am asked.

The short answer is no…..

The MOH only covers a procedure called Panniculectomy. This operation involves removal of lower abdominal fold without any contouring or muscle work.
The result is an unsatisfactory outcome.

The criteria for panniculectomy are also very strict:
-Must have had massive weight loss
-Fold hanging over the ge***al area substantially
-Rash and issues below the fold
-BMI 30 or less
-Non smoker
-Health generally stable and weight loss stable for at least 6months.

Multiple caesaraean sections do not equate to a OHIP covered tummy tuck at all.

The bottom-line is to always consider a tummy tuck rather than panniculectomy as the latter will not give the best result.

For BREAST REDUCTION AND BREAST LIFT surgery, is the short scar procedure (lollipop scar) better than the anchor scar procedure?

This is frequently discussed on the internet in forums about breast reduction and breast lift procedures (mastopexy).

The bottom-line to this is the long term result.

I have found in my practice that the anchor scar gives much better results in my hands. This is based on more than 250 procedures experience.

The key is to remove most of the tissue on the lower part of the breast and use a pedicle to supply the ni**le from the dominant upper part of the breast.

The procedure is high yield with amazing outcomes and great functional relief.

We all need to be aware of skin lesions. Skin cancers are common and AWARENESS IS THE KEY.

Sunscreen, sunscreen and sunscreen!!!

Look for sunscreen with Zinc Oxide or Titanium dioxide as they are good ingredients with excellent UVA and UVB block.
