“The moon teaches us that we are always growing, changing, and evolving. The phases of the moon are constantly reminding us that this too shall pass, and that life is full of beginnings. It also teaches us that imperfection is beautiful, as the moon is full of rough patches and full of craters, yet it is always so beautiful lit up in the sky.” - Tia Piché

Find the Full Moon on March 18th and feel the connection to the land.

Choose the focus of your meditation, this may include:

Being aware of the present: for example, notice your experience through your 5 senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch).

Self-reflection: you may reflect on what it is you value or what matters to you.

Setting an intention: how can you align yourself to your values?

Use of sacred medicines (email mentalwellness@mushkiki.com for a medicine kit).

etc.

Tell us about your experience and receive a prize for your participation! Please email: mentalwellness@mushkiki.com for submissions and/or more information.

Reading stories with children can provide an opportunity to promote a safe and open space in which to have conversations. Here are ten story options that reflect on residential school experiences in different ways that may help to start a conversation.

The National Indian Residential School 24hr Crisis Line is free at 1-866-925-4419. Talk4Healing, free and confidential 24hr Crisis Line is also available at 1-855-554-4325 or www.talk4healing.com.

In honour of the 215 children found at the site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School, a Sacred Fire will be lit at the site of the former St. Joseph Indian Residential School in Thunder Bay (Pope John Paul II Senior Elementary School) to honour the spirits of the children and support the grieving and healing of the families, communities, and Survivors.

The Fire will be lit Monday, May 31 at 3 p.m. and will burn for four days.

As requested by the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Kukpi7 Rosanne Casimir we encourage you to wear orange, the symbol of Orange Shirt Day, on Monday to honour all the children who died in the Residential Schools.

Everyone is welcome to offer prayers and to***co. Please follow public health guidelines and wear a face mask if you wish to enter the teepee.
