✨ Announcement from Joyful Journeys ✨

As we take a pause to focus on a maternity leave and other new commitments, we wanted to share with our followers that Joyful Journeys will be taking a brief hiatus. While we’ll miss connecting with you during this time, we are excited about what’s ahead!

In the near future, our hope is to re-engage with our incredible community and relaunch our services with fresh energy and new offerings. We can’t wait to reconnect with you all again 😊

A huge THANK YOU to all the amazing clients, families, and community members who have been part of our journey over the past year and a half. Your support means the world to us, and we’re so grateful for the connections we’ve made and opportunities we got to be apart of.

Meet the faces behind JJ! ☀️ Part 2

Cat is the other Co-owner of Joyful Journeys and is so excited to be here! After earning a B.A. in Psychology through Carleton University, Cat dabbled in a few careers and business ventures before discovering her true passion - Therapeutic Recreation. She earned a diploma at Confederation College and started her new career.
Thinking back, Cat now realized that Therapeutic Recreation has always been a part of her journey. From a young age, she has had a passion for meaningful connections and living life to the fullest. She loves new experiences, and her enthusiasm and easygoing nature naturally motivates others to join her in adventures. Her mantra is to try new things, find passion for life, stay active and healthy, and truly connect with others.
Cat loves to organize activities for others and creates meaningful experiences that are often filled with laughter. All she needs is the faintest smile from others to make all her work worthwhile.
Cat has worked with children, people with special needs, the elderly, people in corrections, as well as those experiencing homelessness and those dealing with mental health concerns and addiction. She is unafraid to meet people where they are and works hard to discover or rediscover what lights them up inside.

Meet the faces behind JJ! ☀️ Part 1

Kara is the Co-owner of Joyful Journeys and is so excited to meet you! Kara kickstarted her career in 2012 with a diploma in Recreation Therapy from Confederation College, and from there began working in many professions where she got to make meaningful impacts on others. Kara has worked with individuals living with disabilities, in long-term care homes, respite settings, and with seniors in many capacities.
In 2016, Kara chose to expand her knowledge and passion of the field of Therapeutic Recreation and moved to Southern Ontario to attend Brock University and earn her degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies - concentration in Therapeutic Recreation. From there Kara has worked with individuals living with dementia and their families at our local Alzheimer Society, individuals with disabilities at Wesway and Avenue II, seniors in long-term care homes, and has supported older adults in both outpatient and inpatient environments in an acute care setting.
Kara thrives on making valuable relationships with those she supports and has a natural way of making those around her feel comfortable and understood. You will often hear Kara speak about improving the well-being and quality of life of those around her, because that is what she strives to do. Kara leads her practice with kindness, laughter, connection, and optimism and finds true joy in brightening the days of others.
