I like to think all the Dads in heaven get to come down today and spend it with their precious ones. But you must invite them. Say their names, play their favourite music and tell that joke that made everyone groan. They will come. The thing about love is, it doesn’t die, you see. It places precious parts of souls in loved one’s hearts and that, that lasts an eternity. Much longer than we can imagine. So, if you are finding today hard, look for them in the moments… I believe they’re trying really hard to let you know, they’re still here.

Police are advising the public of a scam that has been recently reported.

The Thunder Bay Police Service Economic Crime Unit was recently contacted and provided information about the occurrence.

A letter was addressed to a deceased individual, purportedly from a financial services company, advising that the individual was owed funds that had yet to be paid.

The letter provided a phone number to contact for the payment to be issued. The provided phone number is not visible anywhere on the company's website.

In addition, the letter and envelope do not appear to be legitimate, with the content of the letter not seeming to be of an expected professional standard and the letterhead not appearing to be genuine.

The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Economic Crime Unit is urging family members and friends to speak to those who may be vulnerable to being targeted by this type of scam.

Please be cautious and always go directly to a funeral home’s website when searching for an obituary or leaving a condolence, making a donation or any other in memoriam tribute for a family. Make sure you are NOT on a third-party or newspaper website (i.e. Echovita, Legacy, etc.) – unfortunately, there are companies out there who are making money from trusting people who are simply trying to do something nice –
