On World Su***de Prevention Day, we want to go beyond generic awareness-raising. We have been so fortunate to be connected with someone who genuinely wants to make a difference by boosting our sense of community here in Thunder Bay, and this SATURDAY, September 13th, 2025, we are proud to be the starting point for a new event in !
From 11:00am-12:00pm at 1226 Dawson Rd, we will host part of our motorcycle riding community here in our parking lot, with a group ride up Dawson starting at 12:00pm.

Come out, stop in to say hello, come check out the new office, and if you have a bike, we hit the road at noon!

If you want to help more, we are accepting donations for our community mental health counselling fund through the KMH Wellness Foundation. Foundation funds cover urgent counselling sessions for those who don't otherwise have coverage.

Help us out if you can! Please like and share if you see this so we can spread the word!

There’s a stark difference in how we handle perceived rejection before and after therapy. Why? Because when you do the work, you fill your own cup and you’re no longer running on empty, getting your only validation from external sources. When you do the work, you have the opportunity to become so much the person you want to be that it takes a LOT more to shake you. Even then, you have the tools to handle it when things go sideways. .One of the best parts: Gaining the ability to recognize that it’s a THEM-thing when someone isn’t on your team, having a deep awareness that most of the time it isn’t about your value as a human being that makes people incompatible. We’re biased on this, yes, but we do recommend therapy. 🙃

Couples Counselling 101: How do you know if it’s time to try? Kristen has the info!. is not super effective as a last ditch effort when your foot is already out the door. What it can do for people who are committed to making changes for the better is this: .They learn to have open, honest, productive discussions that are solution-focused..They can learn to recognize defense mechanisms, and deescalate intense conversations to prioritize the relationship..Focusing on what’s right rather than who’s right..Couples therapy can be a great opportunity for partners to evolve together and rediscover how to be allies amid shifting priorities, chronic stress, and the distance that can develop even when we are physically close together. .Kristen is one of our incredible mental health counsellors who provides this service to couples in person in Thunder Bay, and online throughout Ontario. Stay tuned for more!

Have a safe, relaxing, and kind holiday season! (PS... Holidays can be tough...and holiday gatherings with a lot of interesting personalities can be even tougher. We'll be back and so ready for the tea in 2025! Hang in there!!)

Here’s one from Emma:
When in pain long enough, the ability to go numb helps us to survive. But healing means that we cannot stay numb. Staying numb to pain means being unable to feel joy.
So numbing, while essential to survival, is only meant to be temporary. We have to feel our pain to heal from our experiences.

Our Story

Our mission is to empower people to become the best versions of themselves.

We are a private mental health clinic that specializes in treatment for trauma-related issues. With our primary focus in counselling, we work collaboratively to meet client needs using individually tailored, evidence-based treatment plans. Our primary core value is what we are about, both as practitioners and as human beings: health. Physical, mental, and emotional health allows us to operate at our optimal functioning, and contributes to positive growth and development, increasing skills and abilities, and bettering ourselves and others.

Based in empathy and understanding, we do what is right and we help those in need. Every individual deserves to be heard, to be seen for the best that they can be, and to be treated with kindness. Treating all individuals with consideration and dignity is the most vital step in creating positive, empowering relationships. We listen with our full attention; we remain present.

Mental Health is vital to our well-being, and it is a constant work in progress. To manage adversity, we must acknowledge how we feel. Emotions are not wrong. They just are. How we interpret a situation reflects how we will feel about it. Counselling is about learning to approach the future with hope, and taking deliberate steps to create and nurture a fulfilling life.
