✨ A Small Reminder About Kindness ✨

Running a small, service-based business means working closely with people, and most of the time that’s something I truly enjoy. My clients are wonderful and supportive, and I’m very grateful for that.

Every once in a while though, unexpected life events happen. Sometimes it’s a client who needs to cancel suddenly, and sometimes it’s me who has to reschedule because life throws a curveball.

When those moments happen, I always try to lead with understanding and compassion, because we’re all human and life doesn’t always go according to plan.

A little patience, grace, and kindness can go a long way. It costs nothing to offer someone understanding when they’re navigating something difficult.

Thank you to the many clients who continue to show that kindness and support — it truly means more than you know

✨ POV: You’ve been saying “I need a massage” for 3 months. ✨

You meant to book it…
But life got busy.
Work, family, responsibilities — suddenly your schedule has filled up and you end up at the bottom of the list.

So you wait...
Until the tension builds.
Until your shoulders are tight.
Until the pain finally says, “Okay, now we really need to deal with this.”

There’s no shame in that — most people fall into the same pattern.

But sometimes the easiest way to break the cycle is simple:
📅 Put it on the calendar before the pain spikes.
Your future self will thank you.

Wouldn’t it feel better knowing it’s already booked?

🌿✨ Occasional Relaxation vs. Routine Care ✨🌿

Many people think of massage as something you book once in a while when you’re stressed or sore. Those sessions can feel amazing, but there is a big difference between temporary relief and the benefits of regular care.

Occasional Relaxation
A massage can help you unwind and release tension, but the effects fade as daily stress and muscle fatigue return.

Routine Care
With regular sessions, the benefits build over time.

✨ How regular sessions change outcomes:
• Muscles release tension more easily
• Chronic tightness becomes easier to manage
• Your body relaxes more quickly

✨ What monthly clients often notice:
• Fewer headaches
• Better sleep
• Improved mobility
• Less stress building up

Massage doesn’t have to be something you only book when things hurt — sometimes the biggest shifts come from consistent care over time.

Today my workday starts a little differently. 🚗
Every other Thursday, Friday, and the following Monday and Tuesday, I make the trip to Iroquois Falls to provide services at Oohlala Beauty.

These little clips are part of my routine when I arrive — unlocking the door, turning on the lights, and getting the space ready for the day ahead. It’s a quiet moment before the appointments begin and the day fills with conversation, relaxation, and self-care.

I’m so grateful to be able to serve clients in two communities and bring my services to those who may not always want to travel.

If you’re in Iroquois Falls and have been thinking about booking, keep an eye on my schedule for those travel weeks — appointments tend to fill quickly!

A little morning effort goes a long way ✨

One thing I’ve noticed since transitioning to my in-home treatment room is that I find myself “getting ready” for the day… a lot less often. When your commute is just down the hallway, it’s easy to stay in comfy mode. 😅
Lately though, I’ve been making a point to put a little extra effort into my mornings — doing my hair, a bit of makeup, actually getting ready for the day.

And honestly? It’s made a bigger difference than I expected.
That small bit of effort has had a real impact on my state of mind. I feel more energized, more focused, and just a little more like I’m stepping into my day with intention.

Sometimes self-care isn’t just the big things — sometimes it’s the simple act of showing up for yourself in the morning.

❄️ Snow Day Policy❄️

Your safety (and ours!) always comes first. If the weather makes travel unsafe, we may close, delay opening, or reschedule appointments. If that happens, you’ll be notified right away.

If we stay open but the roads aren’t safe where you are, please don’t worry — just reach out and we’ll happily move your appointment to a better day.

And if you’re running a little late because of winter weather, we’ll do our best to make it work, though appointments may still need to finish at the scheduled time.

Stay cozy, stay safe, and we’ll see you once the snow / ice settles. 💙❄️

😂✨ Real Talk: Massage Room Moments No One Talks About ✨😂

Let’s be honest… as peaceful and relaxing as massage sessions are, sometimes hilarious things happen.
Like:
• The unexpected stomach gurgle symphony 🎶
• Both of us pretending we didn’t hear it
• Accidentally saying “you too” when someone says “enjoy your massage”
• That awkward moment when you knock, walk into the room, and find your new client standing in the middle of the room awkwardly because they forgot all your directions as soon as you closed the door.

And then… there’s practitioner bloopers.

One time, I was working on a particularly large muscle knot using my forearm. I leaned in with focus, determination… and confidence. 💪

Well.

My forearm slipped off the knot.
My balance shifted forward.
And I nearly fell face-first into my client’s armpit.
In my surprise, I swore- Loudly.
Then immediately started apologizing profusely.
While my client laid there absolutely laughing at my entire debacle. 😂

Needless to say — no one was injured, the knot survived, and we both gained a core memory that still makes me laugh.

Moral of the story? Even in the calmest spaces, we’re all human. And sometimes the most relaxing sessions come with a little unexpected comedy.

If you’ve ever had an “oops” moment during a massage — just know you’re not alone. 😅💛

Let’s talk about “detox” for a second.

Massage doesn’t technically detox the body — and that’s okay. Your liver, kidneys, lungs, and digestive system handle that naturally every day. That’s just how your body works.

There isn’t strong evidence that a standard relaxation massage “flushes toxins” in a biochemical sense. However, it supports these systems by improving circulation which helps move metabolic waste out of muscle tissue (Many people confuse "metabolic waste" like lactic acid with "toxins")

What massage does do is powerful 👇🏼
• Helps regulate your nervous system
• Reduces stress and lowers sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight) activity
• Can decrease perceived pain ( pain gate theory)
• Improves circulation temporarily
• Releases muscle tension
That’s not detoxification — it’s nervous system support and body regulation.

Now, Lymphatic Drainage Massage is different. It’s a specific clinical technique designed to support lymph flow, especially for post-surgical swelling or lymphedema. That’s not the same as saying a regular massage removes toxins.

When people say they feel “detoxed,” they’re usually describing:
• Deep relaxation
• A calmer nervous system
• Reduced tension
• A sense of lightness
And those effects are incredibly valuable 💛
Massage is powerful because it supports your nervous system — not because it “cleans” your bloodstream. And that’s more than enough.

A Gentle Reminder 🤍
My goal is to create a safe, relaxing space for both my clients and myself — and that includes keeping communication professional and respectful.
Once in a while I receive comments about “happy endings,” sometimes termed as a "joke". While it may not be intended to offend, those comments aren’t appropriate in a massage and wellness setting. These comments feel dismissive of the work and training behind this profession.
Serenity & Sage is, and will always be, a professional wellness space rooted in care, integrity, and respect.
Thank you to my many amazing clients who continue to support that standard — I appreciate you more than you know 🌿
