❄️⛄ Snow Day Safety Reminder — Shovel Smart! ⛄❄️
With up to 60+ cm of snow expected, many of us will be out there tackling our driveways. Before you grab the shovel, here are a few simple tips to protect your body and reduce muscle strain:
🧤 Warm up first
Take 5–10 minutes to gently move your shoulders, hips, and back before you start. Cold muscles strain more easily.
🧤 Lift with your legs, not your back
Bend your knees, keep your back straight, and avoid twisting while lifting snow.
🧤 Push when you can, lift when you must
Pushing snow puts far less strain on your back than lifting and throwing it.
🧤 Take smaller loads
Heavy, wet snow adds up fast. Smaller scoops = less stress on your muscles.
🧤 Switch sides often
Alternate hands and directions to avoid overworking one side of your body.
🧤 Take breaks
Shoveling is hard work! Pause often, hydrate, and listen to your body.
🚨 If you feel sharp pain, dizziness, or extreme fatigue — stop. No driveway is worth an injury.
Stay warm, move smart, and take care of your body — it’s working hard for you today! 💙❄️
