Northern College is reminding students to be aware of fraudulent phones calls from people claiming to be representatives of different branches of the Canadian Government.

Timmins Police are aware of the issue and will be continuing to investigate phone calls of this nature.

Students are reminded that the Canadian Government and the various bodies representing it (Service Canada, Canadian Immigration etc.) Do not contact people over the phone at any point in time.

Please see the Media Release recently issued by the Timmins Police Service and, as stated 'The Timmins Police Service....endorses the use of healthy skepticism when any phone solicitation from a suspicious source is received."
