Timmins may be getting another big snowfall, but spring is still on the calendar and our Spring Classes are right around the corner.

At The Movement Studio our classes are rehabilitation based Pilates and movement classes, designed within a physiotherapy, osteopathy clinic setting. This means every class is grounded in safe, evidence informed movement that focuses on improving strength, stability, mobility, and overall function.

Whether you are recovering from injury, managing back or joint pain, looking to build core strength, or simply wanting a thoughtful and guided movement practice we have a class for you. Our instructors provide modifications and support so participants of all levels can feel confident and successful.

New this spring, several classes will incorporate warm infrared therapy to support relaxation, improve circulation, and assist with muscle recovery.

Our spring programs run throughout the season, with sessions ranging from 4 to 12 weeks depending on the class, allowing you to find an option that fits your schedule and goals.

We are excited to share that The Movement Studio is moving to a new location on MacLean Drive!

Over the past several months, we have been working hard behind the scenes on renovations and upgrades as we prepare for this next chapter. As a team dedicated to serving this community, this is a big and exciting step that allows us to continue growing while better supporting the Timmins community.

Our new space will bring some wonderful improvements, including:

- A large private parking lot (no more downtown parking meters or snowbank challenges)
- A fully accessible main floor location that is wheelchair and stroller friendly
- More treatment rooms for our current and growing team of practitioners
- A larger studio space for classes

Our new clinic will allow us to continue offering the services our community already knows and trusts, while also giving us the opportunity to introduce more classes in the future.

For those wondering about the location, our new clinic is only about a 7 minute drive from our current downtown space, making it easy to access while offering the added benefits of parking and accessibility.

This project has been in the works for several months, and we are so excited to finally share the news.

Tiffany Lamothe’s transition into Pilates was born of necessity and personal transformation. Despite eighteen years of rigorous training and success on the competitive fitness stage, Tiffany was blindsided by a debilitating episode of chronic low back pain. This profound physical setback resulted in excruciating discomfort and limited mobility. After exploring various holistic modalities, she found that the combination of osteopathy, which addressed the structural root of her dysfunction, and Pilates finally facilitated her recovery.

Through this process, Tiffany recognized that true core stability is not merely about strength but about postural awareness and precise, mindful movement. By fortifying deep stabilizing muscles and refining her body awareness, she successfully corrected long-standing imbalances and restored her functional resilience and confidence.

Captivated by the intentionality of the practice, Tiffany pursued her certification to help others bridge the gap between breath, alignment, and long-term mobility. Beyond her Pilates expertise, she integrates additional training in holistic wellness by incorporating breathwork, relaxation techniques, and lifestyle education into her sessions to facilitate comprehensive whole-body recovery.

Tiffany specializes in supporting individuals navigating back and hip concerns. Her sessions are both therapeutic and empowering, designed to cultivate an awareness of mind, body, and spirit while building strength through core-focused movement. A proud member of The Movement Studio team, Tiffany thrives in an environment of practitioners dedicated to rehabilitation and wellness. When she is not in the studio, she finds her own restoration in nature through bird photography, paddleboarding, or snowshoeing.

We are so excited to have Tiffany on board! She’ll be teaching classes on our upcoming spring schedule, which is coming out very shortly, so keep an eye out for that. If you’re interested in a more personalized approach, Tiffany is also available for private Pilates sessions supervised by our physiotherapists. The U15 Falcons Rep team was back in the studio for another Pilates focused training session as they continue their push toward the provincial championships.

After an early morning practice, the girls slowed things down and got to work on core strength, balance, and control using Pilates based movement. We also spent time on foam rolling and recovery, teaching them how to take care of sore muscles during a demanding season. The session wrapped up with breath work and a chance to reset, refocus, and stay present.

Pilates plays a huge role in building strong, resilient athletes, and we love being part of their journey.

We are beyond excited to welcome Rylee to the team as our newest Registered Massage Therapist!

Rylee recently graduated from Cambrian College in 2025. During her education, she completed a variety of outreach placements that allowed her to gain hands-on experience working with diverse populations, including pregnancy massage, sports massage, and care within a hospice setting. This range of experiences from school placements helped her develop confidence and adaptability in treating clients with varying needs.

Her areas of interest include, but are not limited to, trigger point therapy, joint mobilizations, and direct fascial techniques.

She takes a client-centred approach, tailoring each treatment to the individual’s goals, comfort level, and unique needs. Rylee’s priority for treatment is to ensure each person feels safe, supported, and comfortable at all times.

Our 4 Week Back Program is starting next week at The Movement Studio.

If you are dealing with back pain or feeling stiff and weak through your spine, this rehabilitation focused program is designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and protect your back in everyday life.

The program uses science backed movement to improve spinal mobility, build core and posture strength, and teach safe ways to move with confidence. Exercises are progressive and focused on supporting long term spine health.

Classes are led by Nadia Lapointe, Physiotherapist, Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, and Certified Pilates Teacher with over 20 years of clinical experience.

A fresh year often starts best by going back to the basics.

Pilates 101 is designed for those new to Pilates or anyone looking to build a strong foundation. This beginner class focuses on proper alignment, breathing techniques, and foundational exercises to improve strength and flexibility from the core.

Pilates 101 with Sylvie begins Monday, January 26, and runs for five weeks from 5:15 to 6:15 PM.
