Today in our A to Z coping skills series is Talk.

Some things don’t get lighter until they’re shared. Talking is one of the most underrated coping skills. Not just any talking, we mean real, vulnerable, safe conversations with someone who listens without trying to fix you.

Whether it’s with a friend, a therapist, a recording, or even aloud to yourself, naming what you feel can reduce the intensity by half.

You don’t have to carry it alone.
Start with: “I don’t know how to say this, but…” That’s often where healing begins.

Today in our A to Z coping skills series, we have Sports.

Let us remind you that therapy doesn't only happen in a quiet room.
Sometimes it happens on the field, the court, the trail, or the rink.

Movement of any kind helps regulate the nervous system. Discipline, teamwork, strategy, these are all skills developed and honed through sports and all contribute to improved mental and physical well-being.

Go ahead a play street hockey with friends, plan a baseball game, a friendly race, shoot hoops, etc.

What’s your go-to sport or movement practice when you need to reset?

You don’t have to choose between self-care and parenting, you can do both. 🌿

Self-care doesn’t have to happen alone. You can fill your own cup with your kids by turning everyday moments into connection and care. When you care for your mind and body alongside them, you’re teaching them how to do the same and setting them up for success.

Today in our A to Z coping skills series is Rest.

In a world driven by productivity and hustling, it is important to remember that rest is not lazy. It’s not weak and definitely should not be a reward you earn after burnout.

Rest is recovery.
It’s re-calibration.
It’s resistance to the pressure to be “on” and perform all the time.
Whether it’s sleep, stillness, daydreaming, or simply taking a break from over-stimulation, rest allows your body and brain to heal, recharge, and regulate.

Go ahead, give yourself permission to pause. You’re not falling behind. You’re recharging.

Today, we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served and those who continue to serve. Because of them, we live in a country where freedom, safety, and hope are possible.

As we honour their memory, let us also remember the mental and emotional toll that war and service can carry. It’s a reminder of the importance of caring for our mental health, supporting our veterans, and showing compassion for one another.

Take a moment today to reflect, to be still, and to reach out to someone who may need a listening ear. 💬❤️

Today in our A to Z coping skills series is Quiet.

Not every coping skill is loud, active, or expressive. Sometimes, healing looks like… silence.

A moment without noise.
A space without pressure.
A breath without expectation.

Quiet allows the nervous system to settle.
It creates room for clarity, calm, and reflection. Whether it’s sitting in stillness, walking without music, or simply turning off notifications, we encourage inviting a little quiet in.

Your mind and body might surprise you with what they say when everything else gets quiet.

Please join us in welcoming Sydney to the Creating Connection team!!

Sydney is here to make starting therapy as smooth and welcoming as possible from helping with scheduling and paperwork to answering any questions along the way. She will also be helping us do community outreach, connecting with local organizations and sharing mental health resources.

Outside of work, Sydney is a competitive powerlifter who has represented Team Canada on the world stage in Sweden, and she loves staying active, exploring the outdoors with her goldendoodle, and going on spontaneous adventures.

Welcome aboard, Sydney!! We’re so glad to have you with us. 🎉

This month, we’re shining a light on men’s mental health.
Because while many men struggle in silence, no one should have to face their challenges alone.

It’s okay to talk about how you’re really doing.
It’s okay to reach out for help.
It’s okay to not be okay.

Let’s break the stigma and create spaces where men feel safe to open up about stress, grief, anxiety, relationships, and everything in between.

Check in on the men in your life, and remind them that reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. 💪💙
