So grateful & happy that the tuck shop is such a huge hit in our home and it would not be possible without the 2+1 wonderful residents that run it
Thank you Fran ( & Brenda ) and Lorraine your commitment is priceless and I got to see how you experience a rush and lineup before it’s even open! Made me so happy

And oh goodness I forgot the hustle and bustle of shopping and organizing the items since Fran and her amazing children have taken that over again thank you Bill & Lorraine for doing that!

A quick touching story from this week…

This week I had the opportunity to visit several local businesses and community partners to introduce myself as the Spruce Hill Lodge Resident Service Coordinator & Activities Coordinator 🩷.

During my visits, I was truly honoured when a few people smiled and said, “Oh! You’re the Spruce gal!”

What touched my heart even more were the beautiful things they shared. Many mentioned that when they come across one of our videos or photos filled with smiling faces, it gives them that little boost — the right dose of happiness to brighten their own day.

To hear that they follow us closely and support what we do so wholeheartedly was beyond a blessing.

At SHL, our team is truly everyone — employees, volunteers, residents, families, and guests. Together we create the moments that make this place so special.

I am incredibly proud, as we all are, to call Spruce Hill Lodge our home away from home 🏠.

Thank you to the businesses and community partners who shared the memories and moments they hold dear to their hearts during my visits.

This next post is a bit of a catch-22 in every sense. Although we knew the clock was ticking, it’s still bittersweet as we say Happy Retirement (for the second time!) to our cherished and well-loved Real.

While we will certainly miss him, it makes us happy to know this retirement is truly well deserved. We are grateful for the extra time we were fortunate to have with him here as our Maintenance person. His dedication and kindness will not be forgotten by both staff and residents.

With that said, this also means we will soon have a part-time Maintenance position available.

Description
Spruce Hill Lodge is Looking for a Part- Time Maintenance person

Reports to the Administrator

Monday to Friday 4 hrs. a day (20 hrs. a Week) 8a.m-12p.m,

Must be able to communicate in French and English

Must be mature and Reliable and able to complete work in a timely manner,

Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, willing to be on call after hours

Experience is an Asset

Functions:

1. General repairs to buildings, equipment and furnishings.

2. General decorating of rooms and other areas including painting, and surface repairs

3. Maintaining the effectiveness of building mechanical, electrical and fire detection and safety systems

4 Routine surveillance of grounds, including parking lots. Maintain the grounds in a

neat and tidy fashion

5. Maintain a high level of safety and security for Residents, Staff, visitors, guests

6. Maintain the preventive maintenance program

7. Good communication skills with Residents and their families and will follow a co-operative and helpful attitude with them.

8.Selection and acquisition of maintenance supplies and their efficient, effective and safe use.

9. Maintain an adequate inventory of maintenance supplies for day-to-day use.

10. Foster co-operative interaction with all staff.

11. Have Knowledge and Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act

-Must have a clean police check for the vulnerable Sector

-Vaccinated x 2

Wages: According to the Collective Agreement

Another beautiful transformation that boasts a peaceful yet entertaining sitting area for our Residents!
Thank you to all who had a hand in this upgrade, the residents are so appreciative to be experiencing the homes renovations made in the last few years
So much brighter and modern 🩷
P.S sorry for dark pics but they say too quickly and looked so cozy watching a flick that I didn’t have the heart to turn lights on
Guess that means you need to come visit and see it for yourself 💜🩷

I debated to post or not post these next pics but they shout such a beautiful message that should be shared about our home and how it definitely houses a family and true connections with our extended family (residents) The team work in these pictures show that TOGETHER we achieve more! The selfless gesture done through compassion of going above & beyond is what sets our tone at Spruce Hill Lodge! The other golden ticket in these pics and it’s valuable message is thank goodness for such a supportive community that also love our home & family, the donation of a portable hair washing basin was so handy and made this service possible! So thank you 🙏
