I feel like our generation was taught to want to be small. Small portions. Small bodies. Cardio to burn it all off, burn the food we just ate!

Or, more cardio so we could have the cake. 🫠🫠

Nobody told us that muscle is what protects our metabolism, our bone density, our insulin sensitivity, and our energy as we age.

I don’t agree.

While cycle changes can happen, that doesn’t mean we should ignore them. Often, there are underlying factors worth exploring.

In my practice, I look beneath the surface by assessing things like:
✔️ Thyroid function
✔️ Iron status
✔️ Conditions such as PCOS
✔️ Life stage considerations like perimenopause or premature ovarian insufficiency

When we take the time to understand what’s really going on, women often notice improvements in their cycles — and just as importantly, feel heard and validated.

Birth control can absolutely have its place, but it shouldn’t be the only option offered without a proper assessment.

1️⃣ Focus on a balanced, anti-inflammatory diet
Think Mediterranean-style — rich in antioxidant-packed fruits and vegetables, fibre from whole grains to support gut health, and healthy fats to help reduce inflammation.

2️⃣ Prioritize and support sleep
This includes making sure you’re getting enough sleep and looking deeper when needed — such as screening for concerns like sleep apnea.

3️⃣ Incorporate regular movement
Exercise isn’t just for weight loss. Even without changes on the scale, it can significantly lower inflammation and improve how your body functions.

☀️ Tell me it’s not just me…

I love my morning routine.

Starting my day slowly — enjoying my breakfast and coffee, taking the dog out for a walk, and having a bit of quiet time before checking my inbox — makes such a difference in how I feel.

It does mean getting up a little earlier… but it’s a trade-off I’m more than happy to make. 💛
