As we enjoy the warmth these days we reminisce a little one that was born in the middle of a snowstorm ❄️
While the world outside was quiet, covered in fresh snow, inside this space there was strength, warmth, and the most powerful kind of love

There is a quiet, powerful bond between a mother and her baby that begins long before birth and continues to deepen in the smallest, most everyday moments.
Your baby knows you. They know your voice, your heartbeat, your scent. They were held by you before they were ever held in your arms.

Bonding isn’t something you need to force or perfect. It’s already happening, naturally, in ways like
skin to skin contact
feeding, whether at breast or bottle
responding to their cries
holding, rocking, and soothing
eye contact and familiar voices
sleeping close and feeling your presence

You are your baby’s home, and they are learning you just as much as you are learning them.

Your newborn’s stomach is tiny at birth and it’s designed that way to grow with your milk production 🤍
On day 1, it’s about the size of a cherry 🍒
By day 3, it grows to about a walnut
By one week, it’s closer to an apricot
And by one month, about the size of an egg 🥚

This is why frequent feeding isn’t a problem, it’s biology. Small stomach, fast digestion, big need for connection and nourishment.

If it feels like your baby is feeding all the time, you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re meeting them exactly where they are.

Your body and your baby are learning each other, one feed at a time 🤍

Most birth workers fall in love with the placenta and here’s why
* The only temporary organ humans grow and naturally shed
* Transfers oxygen, nutrients, and antibodies to support the baby’s growth and immunity
* Completely unique, with its own shape, color, and blood vessel pattern
* Produces hormones like progesterone, estrogen, and hCG to keep the pregnancy healthy
* At birth, weighs about one sixth of the baby’s weight but performs work no other organ can replicate
The placenta is powerful, life-giving, and one of nature’s most remarkable creations

If you’re pregnant and looking for prenatal education of a birth doula and companion we are here for you!

03/03/2026

A TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) machine is a small, battery-powered device that sends mild electrical pulses through sticky pads placed on your lower back.

These pulses help reduce labor pain in a few ways:
1. Pain Gate Theory – The pulses stimulate nerves in your skin, “blocking” pain signals from reaching your brain.
2. Endorphin Release – Your body naturally releases these “feel-good” chemicals, which act as your own pain relief.
3. Muscle Relaxation – Gentle stimulation can help ease back tension and cramps.
4.
Did you know?
• Studies show up to 50% of birthing parents experience less back pain when using TENS.
• It’s drug-free and can be used safely during early and active labor.
• It’s most effective for back labor and can be used alongside other comfort measures like breathing, movement, and other comfort measures.

Quick tips:
• Pads are usually placed on either side of your lower spine, at waist or sacrum level.
• Intensity can be increased as contractions get stronger.
• Always check with your provider if you have a pacemaker or certain medical conditions.

✨ Bonus: All of our birth doulas have TENS machines available for you to use free of charge during your labor!

Curious to try TENS hands-on and learn other labor comfort techniques?

We talk about birth plans.
We don’t talk enough about the inner shadows .
The third trimester can stir doubt, control, grief, and deep vulnerability. Nothing about that makes you unprepared. It makes you human.

Here are some journal prompts for you :
• Where in my life do I struggle to surrender?
• What support am I craving but haven’t asked for?
• What am I not saying out loud about this transition?

You don’t have to hold the shadows alone. 🤍

If this resonates, our DMs are open. We believe mothers and caretakers deserve spaces where the full truth of becoming is welcomed not just the polished parts.

We’re dreaming up gatherings, circles, and community events to hold space for these conversations in real life. Stay rooted with us.
