🚨 Most child s*xual abuse material (CSAM) cases happen online.

📊 Between 2018–2024, 69% of CSAM incidents reported to police were cybercrimes.

🔺 In 2023, online CSAM cases spiked by 79%, while offline cases stayed steady.
🔻 In 2024, online cases dropped 27%, but offline cases rose 25%.

➡️ The internet continues to drive major shifts in how these crimes happen — making online safety more important than ever.

And in order to create change, we first need to talk about it.

Our team can help start this conversation – offering free, anonymous support to those struggling with CSEM use.

Our mission at Talking for Change is to protect children from harm, and to do this, we need to foster an environment that encourages individuals at risk to talk about it.

If we don't do this, the negative stigma surrounding this topic can result in:

1️⃣ Individuals at-risk of engaging in abuse may not seek treatment due to fear that a treatment provider will report them to the police or a child protection agency

2️⃣ Stressors caused by negative stigma may contribute to at-risk individuals coping in ways that might increase the likelihood of offending (e.g., using alcohol or drugs)

3️⃣ Stigma may increase a person’s risk to offend by causing more problems in their lives that are themselves risk factors for s*xual offending.

Research has found that most children delay or never disclose child s*xual abuse. This is why it’s important to talk to your children about boundaries, discuss why it’s important to not keep secrets, and foster open dialogue.

Many people believe that “once a s*x offender, always a s*x offender”; however, the longer an individual who committed a s*xual offence lives offence free in the community, the less likely they are to s*xually reoffend.

While we don’t support individuals through our program who have recent convictions for s*xual offences against a child, we know the importance of getting these individuals the help they need to live healthier lives and to not offend in the future.
