Music is in the air at UHN's Toronto Rehab! ๐ŸŽถ

The TRI Hards, TeamUHN's own band of musicians, led a choir of patients, families and staff through a holiday sing-along. Our voices, along with guitars, ukuleles, glockenspiels and kazoos, brought joy, festive cheer, and a warm sense of healing through the halls.

Music programming and performances are happening across UHN to bring joy to those in our community who may be going through challenging times, and those who are spending the holidays with us. The National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) just marked 40 years as Canadaโ€™s only dedicated eating disorders helpline.

Since it opened in 1985, the NEDIC team has continued transform education and support for Canadians on one of the most lethal and often misunderstood forms of mental illness. Today that work includes:
๐Ÿ“ž a toll-free helpline and live chat that supports callers across time zones
๐Ÿ“š a growing number of multi-lingual, downloadable resources
๐Ÿซ outreach programs that reach thousands of students, parents and educators each year

A short 100m walk used to be an intimidating challenge for Pauline because of chronic and debilitating pain from a decades-old injury. Although long healed, her brain was still sending faulty signals when there was no longer any real threat.

Things changed when she was referred to UHN's Rehabilitation Pain Service clinic for Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT). The treatment approach combines pain education, physical and psychotherapy to retrain the nervous system. Pauline walked 12,000 steps home after her second session.
