Sound therapy has been a long-standing treatment option which focuses on using external sounds to interfere with the neuronal activity relating to the tinnitus. This form of sound enrichment can be provided via mobile phone apps and through free standing sound generators; combination devices (hearing aids with sound generators built in) and ear level sound generators.
In Hearing Help Canada, we believe combination of sound therapy, counseling, and cognitive behavior therapy would be the most effective tinnitus treatment for most of clients.

During war or air-raid situations, people sheltering in safe places may still be exposed to very loud sounds from explosions or sirens. To help protect hearing, it is recommended to use ear protection such as foam earplugs or noise-reducing earmuffs when possible. If earplugs are not available, gently covering the ears with your hands or using soft materials like tissue or cloth can help reduce sound intensity. Limiting exposure to loud noise and staying in protected indoor areas can lower the risk of sudden hearing damage and tinnitus.
