On this International Yoga Day, my heart is both full and heavy.
Full ā from over twelve years of practice and teaching, where yoga has woven itself into every part of my life, bringing me closer to wholeness, steadiness, and peace.
Heavy ā as I witness the devastating toll of the war involving Iran and Israel, and the broader unrest rippling through the Middle East and our world.
Yoga has taught me that peace begins within ā in the breath, in the body, in the recognition of our shared humanity. I often wonder, if the leaders of our world were truly in touch with themselves, with their own breath and being, how many wars could be prevented? How much suffering could be eased?
On this day of honoring unity, may we remember that peace is not passive and it is a practice.
Let us keep practicing. Let us keep softening. Let us keep holding space for ourselves, and for a world in pain.
May peace begin in our hearts, and ripple outward.
