Join lululemon and The Red Ma'at Collective for a 75min 108 sun salutations yoga class. While this class is challenge all are welcome to attend regardless of yoga experience. We will progress through the 108 sun salutations in smaller sets.

Breaks can be taken as needed and most of all remember not to take it too seriously! Lets sweat and flow together in community/sangha for a great cause.

All proceeds from this event will go to support the Ocama Collective here in Tkaranto/Toronto.

Ocama Collective is a community-directed group of birth workers of colour, living and working in Tkaronto (Toronto), who are dedicated to the reclamation of traditional and holistic childbearing and birthing practices, amongst q***r and trans IBPOC folx.

I joined Aanmaa Yoga a year ago after having back surgery and it has helped tremendously with loosening up my muscle stiffness and improving my flexibility.

Among the many physical benefits of this practice, my biggest takeaway is the positive impact it has had on my mental health. Those who know me personally know that this year has been the toughest year of my life and taking this class has enabled me to achieve a sense of calmness by allowing myself to disconnect from my busy life. It has also allowed me to reflect more on the present and be appreciative of what I have in front of me, which has had a real positive impact.

I want to thank Thivja for her attentiveness to her students and helping me personally through my challenges.

"A journal is another prop - like a block, a belt, a blanket - for you to use in your yoga practice." - Bruce Black

The uncertainty of the pandemic and juggling home, work, and business life can make it easy to give into feelings of failure and lack of progress. Going beyond the practice of asanas and adopting journaling into my yoga practice has allowed me to acknowledge these negative thought patterns and re-frame my thought process in these down moments.

Journaling, whether it is after the practice of asanas or not, can improve your self-awareness, emotional well-being and cultivates gratitude. It gives you the opportunity to reflect on your journey, on and off the mat, and allows one to develop the foundation needed for personal acceptance, growth, and change. With the New Year around the corner, we are super excited to be hosting another yoga for manifestation 1 hour workshop that will include a yoga flow, mediation, journaling, and burning ritual.

Date: December 29th, 2021
Time: 7-8pm
Location: Surreal Studios, 2855 Markham Road, Unit 101-102
Price: Minimum $15 donation ($10 for students). All proceeds will be donated.

Why manifest?

Manifesting allows us to create the life we truly want by taking the time to visualize what we want, infusing it with complete belief and then letting the desire for it go to into the universe. Through yoga, we are able to connect with our inner true self to identify and separate our needs from our wants. This allows us to connect with our essence and attract what truly is meant for us. By practicing gratitude through meditation, we create the space for the manifestation to occur and unfold. Through journaling, specifically future scripting, we learn to reprogram our subconscious minds and this serves as a powerful tool for manifesting.

Yoga is my way to loosen and relax. It has helped me understand where I feel stiffness and where I feel relaxed. Yoga has helped me ease my pains and reduce some of my anxiety.

Thivja has been so helpful during personal classes. If I tell her I’m feeling sore or tight in a certain place, she’ll make sure we target those areas. Not only do I feel less sore in the areas we work on but I feel great overall 😊

2021 has been a year filled with many ups and downs - and the one thing that has been constant is my yoga practice and for that I am grateful. This practice came into my life at a time I was unsure about who I was and what I was doing. Cultivating a daily practice has allowed me to turn my attention inwards, deepen my self-awareness and become comfortable in my own skin. It has taught me the importance of slowing down, appreciating the journey, respecting boundaries and most importantly, accepting change.

Chakram, the wheel, in yoga refers to the energy points in our bodies. The literal translation of chakram (also knows as chakra) is wheel. In yoga, chakra refers to the energy points in our bodies. Chakras are considered to be a part of that subtle body and are visualized as spinning wheels of energy. With 7 main chakras running along our spines, each chakra is believed to have an impact on different aspects of our emotional and physical well-being. This pose helps increase the capacity of the lungs to expand and provides a stretch to the intercostal muscles (the muscles between the ribcage).
