As the owner of Rose Health Clinic, a multidisciplinary health centre in Toronto, she has built a thriving practice where she collaborates with her colleagues in a holistic, patient-centred environment. Her clinical focus is in digestive and immune health; stress management, infertility; weight management; skin rejuvenation and chronic disease prevention. Dr. Rose is also the founder of ReLiv Organics, a luxury, botanical and organic skin care line featuring wild-crafted, local ingredients. She is registered with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario where she has served as a clinical examiner for new graduates, and she is an active member of her provincial and national naturopathic associations. She is a regular wellness contributor on Global New Morning, as well as many educational podcasts and online publications. My Story…

At the age of 15 I decided that I wanted to be a naturopathic doctor. I always thought that I would be a medical doctor but quickly switched gears after attempting to find a solution for health issues in a medical system that offered prescription medications that would only suppress my symptoms and create side-effects. After seeking the care of a naturopathic doctor, and being placed on a regimen of supplements, herbs and dietary changes, I was freed from my health concerns and came to understand first-hand what it meant to feel “well”. From this point on, I dedicated my life to the art and practice of naturopathy.

🤔 Caribbean foods people think are bad for blood sugar… but actually aren’t.

In my work as a naturopathic doctor, I often remind patients that many of the ground provisions we grew up eating are actually very nourishing foods.

Some of my favourites:
🍠 Boiled green banana – rich in resistant starch that supports gut and blood sugar health

🍠 Dasheen / taro – packed with fiber and minerals for steady energy

🍠 Plantain – a great source of fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and potassium

🍠 Yellow yam & cassava – traditional staples that support digestion and provide nourishing carbohydrates

The goal isn’t to eliminate cultural foods.

Instead:
✔ Pair them with protein
✔ Add vegetables
✔ Choose boiled, roasted, or baked more often than fried

Sometimes the healthiest foods are the ones our parents and grandparents were already eating.

Save this post and share it with someone who grew up eating these foods.

Rest is Resistance
In a world that glorifies constant hustle, prioritizing sleep isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. Lack of sleep impacts more than just how tired you feel. Here are 5 ways not getting enough rest can affect you:

🩺 Increased blood pressure – chronic sleep deprivation raises cardiovascular risk

🍬 Elevated blood sugar – poor sleep can increase HbA1c and fasting blood sugar

🛡️ Immune system struggles – your body becomes more vulnerable to illness

✨ Skin health suffers – dullness, breakouts, and slower healing

🧠 Mental health takes a hit – increased anxiety, stress, irritability, and risk of depression

Sleep is one of the pillars of health we can’t afford to skip. Setting boundaries, protecting your rest, and prioritizing recovery isn’t indulgent, it’s resistance against burnout and a key to long-term well-being.

Allow me to re-introduce myself: I’m Dr. Olivia Rose, owner and clinic director at Rose Health Clinic, and I help people reset their sleep, manage stress, and support overall health. If you want guidance on protecting your rest and feeling your best, book a session with me today.

❤️ I truly love this time of year. While the past few years have held their share of challenges and moments where I felt a quiet void, I’m learning to let go and allow things to be. There is a freedom in not trying to control everything, but instead shaping what I can, setting boundaries, and letting life unfold the way it’s supposed to.

This year, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with so many inspiring people, including patients, customers, colleagues, and friends, across all of my many roles. I’m deeply grateful for each connection and conversation.

🤗 Wishing you all a beautiful holiday season spent with those you love.

Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa.

❤️ Heart Health Matters: Supporting Wellness in the Black Community & Beyond ❤️

February is both Black History Month and Heart Health Month—a perfect time to focus on wellness. While heart health is important for everyone, conditions like high blood pressure and heart disease disproportionately impact the Black community. Prioritizing heart health through simple, everyday habits can make a big difference.

Here are a few key ways to support your heart naturally:

💚 Eat More Potassium-Rich Foods – Potassium helps regulate blood pressure and supports cardiovascular health. Include foods like bananas, avocados, spinach, sweet potatoes, and beans in your meals.

🏃🏾‍♀️ Move Your Body Regularly – Just 30 minutes of activity, like walking or dancing, five times a week can strengthen your heart. New to exercise? Start with 5 minutes a day and build up from there!

🧘🏿 Manage Stress Daily – Deep breathing, mindfulness, or quiet moments for just 10 minutes a day can reduce heart strain and support overall well-being.

As a naturopathic doctor, I take a holistic approach to heart health by identifying individual risk factors and using functional testing to uncover underlying imbalances. Through nutrition, herbal medicine, targeted supplements, and lifestyle strategies, I help my patients naturally support cardiovascular wellness and long-term vitality.

✨Happy New Year!👩🏾‍⚕️

My name is Dr. Olivia Rose ND also known as Dr. O. I’m a naturopathic doctor in Toronto and I’ve been in private practice since 2007. It’s been a while since I shared a few health tips so here are 3 simple tips to get on track for 2025 🌟

1️⃣ Check Your Blood Work
When’s the last time you had your vitamin D, iron levels, or blood sugar (including HbA1c) checked? Don’t guess—know! New lab guidelines for iron deficiency show that many people are iron deficient without realizing it, affecting mood, energy, hormones, immunity, and more. Start the year by understanding your body better.

2️⃣ Eat Balanced Meals (and Stop Snacking)
Skipping meals and constant snacking can disrupt your metabolism. Eating balanced meals at regular intervals gives your body the time it needs to digest and reset, improving energy, digestion, and even hormones. Try to consume a well balanced meal every 4 hours.

3️⃣ Prioritize Sleep Over the Gym
If hitting the gym means sacrificing sleep, it’s time to rethink your routine. Sleep is essential for recovery, hormones, and overall health. Aim for 7–8 hours a night and schedule workouts at a time that doesn’t compromise rest.
