📣New on the blog📣

Did you know that TLC Medicine now has an herbal medicine pharmacy on site? Our acupuncturist, Teresa Lau, is a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCMP), which means she is licensed to prescribe Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) to patients.

CHM is based on centuries of wisdom and clinical experience. Pair it with your ongoing acupuncture, or come in to see what herbal medicine alone can do for you.

Visit our blog to learn more about CHM, how it works, and how it can help you- https://tlc-medicine.com/servicehighlightchm/

Overheard at the Clinic

“I feel like I have a new leg! I feel free from sciatica.”

Moments like these mark true milestones in healing and daily comfort. For people living with sciatica, even simple movements can be challenging—pain radiates down the leg, making it hard to walk, sit, or sleep well. When a patient shares a breakthrough, it signals real progress toward greater independence and well-being.

At TLC Medicine, our treatments are designed to restore movement, ease pain, and help patients get back to living life again. We thank our current patients for trusting us with their journey—and invite future patients to see what TLC Medicine can do.

November 14 is World Diabetes Day.
At TLC we see first hand the impact of diabetes on our patients' lives: fatigue, blurred vision, slow healing wounds, and peripheral neuropathy (that numbness, tingling, or discomfort in the nerves of the legs and feet). Left unmanaged diabetes can affect your heart and kidney health as well.

If you have diabetes, you've probably already heard about how important exercise is to managing this condition. But many of our patients have limited mobility and/or chronic pain, making regular exercise nearly impossible. So what do we recommend to our patients?
Calf raises!
Did you know that doing calf raises after a meal can help keep your blood sugar stable?
Calf raises activate the soleus muscles in your calves, which research shows can reduce blood sugar spikes by up to 52%. This quick exercise helps your body use glucose more efficiently and supports overall diabetes management, especially for those who can't just go for a walk. The best part—calf raises can be done anywhere, even while sitting in your chair! Try adding a few minutes of calf raises after meals for a healthier you.

Falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations among seniors.

Slipping while walking causes over 60% of fall-related injuries. Leading to broken bones, concussions, and long-term disabilities.

Risks for falling? Numbness in the feet, poor balance, decreased strength and reduced vision.

Here's how to get ahead of the risk!
-Build a strong foundation with exercise, good sleep, slow patient movements, and eating right!
-Stay up to date on your support needed by getting regular check ups and reviewing medications (especially those that make you feel drowsy or light headed)
-Use the mobility aids at your disposal to support stability and awareness of obstacles
-And maintain a hazard free environment- clear pathways, handrails and non-slip rugs are key!

đź’™ Invisible Disabilities Week đź’™
October 19–25, 2025

Not every disability can be seen — but every story deserves to be heard. This week shines a light on millions living with conditions like fibromyalgia, chronic pain, neurological disorders, fatigue, or mental health challenges that often go unseen.

Fibromyalgia in particular is a common invisible disability. It causes widespread pain, fatigue, and cognitive challenges that can make even simple tasks difficult — yet many living with it look “fine” on the outside.

Living with an invisible disability often means facing disbelief and misunderstanding. But compassion, awareness, and validation can change that. When we listen with empathy and believe people’s stories, we help make the invisible visible.

Join us in turning the internet blue for Invisible Disabilities Week. Share your story, learn from others, and help create a community where every person feels seen, supported, and valued.đź’™
