Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture

Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture Each year, Canada welcomes more than 20,000 refugees, many of them survivors of torture and war. We want them to become productive citizens and good neighbours.

The Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture (CCVT) is a non-profit founded by a group of Toronto doctors, lawyers and social-service professionals, many of whom were associated with Amnesty International. As Canadians, we all want to see these newcomers integrate successfully. For this to happen, they must have the opportunity to heal from their trauma. That is where our vision of Healing, Communit

y, and Hope, comes in. CCVT is the link to that healing. We provide treatment, tools and support that allow refugees to heal from trauma of torture, war, genocide & crimes against humanity, and become active community members. We offer and provide clients with a variety of services. From one-on-one mental health counselling and support, for both adults and youth, to settlement services, and language and skills training, along with community engagement, educational projects, workshops, and courses.
