📣The 2025 CrossFit Open is here! 📣

The 2025 CrossFit Open is fast approaching. And we have some incredible stuff planned at Energia to celebrate and push our limits :) Here is everything you need to know!

➡️When is it happening?
There will be 3 workouts held between Feb 27 and Mar 17. CrossFit HQ will be releasing the workouts closer to the dates.

➡️How do I take part?
To register you visit games.Crossfit.com and sign up! Make sure to select us as our affiliate - CrossFit Greektown. We’ll then be sharing more details about what you can expect around the Energia gym during the open :)

➡️What if I can’t do all the movements?
The CrossFit open is available to EVERYONE. So don’t worry if you can’t do a handstand push up or your wall walks are still in progress :)

All the workouts will be scaled to meet your capabilities. And it will be a blast to throw down with friends around the gym.

There are a few key areas we like to zero in on during personal training sessions at Energia. If you’ve been considering booking a one-on-one session, here is what you can expect!

✅ Short and Long Term Goals - During the first session we’ll sit with you to understand what you’re trying to improve.

âś… Proper Technique - Everything we do during a training session will have technique in mind.

✅ Fitness Plan - Whether you are coming in once a week, or five times a week, we’ll develop a plan of attack that works around your schedule.

✅ Encouragement - We’re here to be in YOUR corner. Having someone who’s got your back and wants you to succeed.

🚨Yoga Class! 🚨

Have you tried a Yin Yoga & Relaxation class up in our yoga / pilates studio??

This is a class that focuses on deep stretching in a warm setting. It helps target the deeper fascia of the spine & pelvis allowing for improved flexibility of soft tissues, mobility of the joints and the release of stress in the body & mind.

All poses are seated or lying down and many props are used throughout the class!

Classes are designed to work for both experienced yogis and newbies - so don’t be shy🙂

We love using SMART goals as a framework to build out short and long term health/fitness goals. With the start of 2025, it’s a great time to think about what your goals are for the upcoming year!

âś… Specific
Clearly define what you want to achieve, who will be involved, and when it should be completed. (ex. I want to run a half marathon in 2025)

âś… Measurable
Include an objective way to measure your progress, such as a deadline (ex. every week I want to run at least 20 miles)

âś… Achievable
Make sure your goals are realistic and within your capabilities. (ex. start with running a 5k before saying you want to accomplish a full marathon)

âś… Relevant
Ensure your goals align with your overall objectives (ex. If you love basketball, maybe have your goal related to your fitness and basketball abilities - playing in at least 2 games a week, taking 100 practice shots after each game…etc)

âś… Time-bound
Set a deadline for completion

Starting TOMORROW (Dec 27th) the gym will be open again. But we’ve got another home workout to tide you over until then :)

For time:

50-40-30-20-10
V-Ups
Push Ups
Jumping Squats

Score = Time

So the first round you would do 50 V-ups, then 50 Push-Ups, then Jumping Squats...etc. Followed by 40 of everything, then 30....etc

You can always scale movements as needed (for example, changing the jumping squats to regular air squats).

25 min AMRAP (as many reps as possible)

12 Sit Ups
6 Burpees
12 Shoulder Taps (Left + Right = 1 Rep)
6 Burpees
12 Leg Raises
6 Burpees

Score = Rounds + Reps
