3 weeks ago today, I was in a car accident. Initially, I thought everything was fine, and I would get a rental car and go on with my day. It was a busy day for me, and I was on a mission. That didn't happen. Turns out I would later realize I had a concussion and whiplash. I'm still not feeling 100%, but I'm out of the fog and heavy pain.
I have never been so thankful for my practice, for helping me accept the situation and for the plethera of tools I am equipped with to get me through this on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. Never have I been so grateful for my body for taking me through this as gracefully as possible. I am thankful for the guidance of my teachers, and for Courtney, who dropped everything and came to support me that day when I told her what happened, and thankful to Lawlor Therapy for the support since my accident. This support has made all the difference.
Is it a coincidence that this is the exact population that I work with and treat as a yoga therapist? I don't believe it is. I am thankful for the whole experience because I believe it will help me better understand to some degree what many of my students go through.
Now, I'm very fortunate that this was not as bad as it could have been, and it is just a glimpse of what some people experience after a motor vehicle accident. But I am still thankful to have gone through even just a little bit of what my students go through as this will allow me to move forward with true compassion. 🙏🩷
