Some therapy approaches such as, cognitive behavioural therapy, provide techniques for shifting perspectives. A technique that supports self-stigmatizing thoughts include the 3 C's: catch It, check it, and change it.

When you notice an unhelpful thinking pattern, try asking yourself the following questions:
- What is the thought behind the feeling? (catch it)
- Is this thought accurate? (check it)
- What are more accurate or helpful thoughts? (change it)
