Last night at the Comedy Bar Danforth, five members of the Second Mile Club at Kensington Health proved it’s never too late to try something totally new – and totally terrifying: standup comedy. 🎤

From kayak fiascos to Santa suits to one unforgettable audition, the comics of “Die Laughing” had the crowd roaring with laughter. After weeks of writing, rehearsing, and stepping way out of their comfort zones, with support from and , these older adults delivered a show that was raw, real, and ridiculously funny. Shoutout to Alan, Susan, Dean, Jack, and Gordon for showing us that you can always find your funny bone (even if you’ve had it replaced)! 🥁

🌈 No one should have to hide who they are – especially in their own home.

Every resident deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported, and at The Gardens at Kensington Health, our long-term care home, Gay Ol’ Times is doing just that. Led by Minhi Wang (), local drag superstar and former Canada’s Drag Race contestant, Gay Ol’ Times is a monthly program that helps create an inclusive and affirming space for 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors and other older adults through drag performances and storytelling.

Hear from Minhi and Justine Humphries, Vice President, Strategy, People & Partnerships, at Kensington Health, on the importance of fostering inclusion and celebrating community through specialized programming in long-term care settings.

Laughter-filled bridge cards sessions? You bet. 🎨🧁🎶

From The Gardens, our long-term care home to the Second Mile Club, we believe care goes far beyond meeting needs – it's about sparking joy, building friendships, and celebrating everyday moments that make life meaningful.

Because no matter your age or ability, you deserve connection, creativity, and a whole lot of fun.

June marks Indigenous History Month – a time to honour the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

Reconciliation is not a moment, but an ongoing commitment. At Kensington Health, we are deepening that commitment by developing an Indigenous health equity plan – a roadmap to improve health outcomes for Indigenous Peoples by addressing systemic barriers and inequities in access to care.

This month, and every month, we listen, learn, and act – guided by Indigenous voices, stories, and leadership.

Sunshine, soil, and smiles – our annual Gardening Day was a blooming success! 🌼👩‍🌾🌿

Residents of our long-term care home, rolled up their sleeves and planted new life on their balconies, proving that growth doesn’t stop with age.

At The Gardens, nurturing plants is just one more way we nurture people with care that’s hands-on, joyful, and deeply rooted in connection.

Happy Seniors Month! At Kensington, we aim to provide older adults with the care and connection they deserve — whether it’s through sight-restoring cataract surgery, community programs that combat loneliness, or creating a sense of home in long-term care.

At The Gardens, we honour residents every day by building strong relationships, creating comforting spaces, and ensuring every person feels known, valued, and cared for.

Happy Pride Month! This and every month, we honour, celebrate and advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Together, we reflect on the history of Pride, and celebrate the importance of living openly and authentically.

At Kensington, we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and celebrated. We are working every day to build a space where everyone can thrive, whether they are receiving care, working on our team, or part of our community.

Pride reminds us that inclusion is not just a value, it is an action. Let us keep learning, listening and uplifting one another this month and every month.

"Sitting too close to the TV will ruin your eyes!"
We've all heard it, but it's not true. Staring at screens can cause eye strain, but it won't permanently damage your vision.

📺 The real culprit? Not taking enough breaks.
💡 Tip: Try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

At Kensington’s Eye Clinic, we help you separate myth from fact. Good vision starts with good habits and regular checkups!
