My baby looks like me. I look at her and I see myself.
Those precious moments of realizing there is someone else, another human being, another soul around us, makes us complete. They make our hearts bigger and happier, in a way we never imagined was possible.

When she looks at me, I see myself in the most beautiful way i have ever seen.
I can still look at her, and remember how the first month she was born we struggled together with expectations and dreams to reality.
Today i try to still show her my best, and that i will always be there to tell her the truth and love her with whatever life has to bring us.

I needed then, and still need the support of my loved ones.

In my practice, I see in those parents to be, deep inside the fear, and the unknown.
I also see the strong motivation and the aim to get to a safer place with my guidance.
I hope to be there for you just for those times of confidence of your own special way in parenthood.

Our past doesn't let us go so easily.

Our past is part of who we are today.

Our presence gives us the opportunity for change, for awareness, for healing.

Sometimes, specifically in times of challenge like birth, perinatal, some things are happening and we don't know how to react. We are more vulnerable than ever, and those experiences stay.

I bless all the new and old people in my life who are just a big sac of love and joy. Thank you for being there for my happiness.

New moms and new families need help.

Why? Because it is super hard, and there is so much knowledge to share and make it easier and specific for your needs.

How can we help new moms? Here are my Do’s and Dont’s:
Place water bottles for the mother everywhere around the house. Refill them frequently.
Take the baby when possible, even for a couple of minutes. It will allow the mother to rest, use the washroom/shower or even take a quick nap.
Try to keep the baby calm when doing so. Their cry makes their moms more anxious if they’re not with them. Another option is to take the baby out for a 30min walk, preferably in a newborn’s carrier.
Have someone in charge of cleaning, cooking and all other house chores
Have someone available to help with grocery run or a visit to the pharmacy in the first week
Prepare or buy meals rich in water, nuts, fibres and good fats
Repeat this aloud as many times as possible during the day: “Everything is great, you are doing great, you are amazing, everything will be better soon.”
Have someone you trust and can consult with if needed.
Hire a lactation consultant or a doula close to the delivery and postpartum to guide the first steps at home.
Don’t:
Don’t ever say there is not enough milk
Don’t plan anything for the future for at least the first two weeks.
Don’t ever comment on how the parents/mother handle the baby without permission to do so.
Please keep it to one thing at one visit.
Please don’t leave the mother alone for the first week unless it’s for sleeping or she asks for it. Usually, help and support would be welcome if offered.
I don’t think breastfeeding is the mother’s job, so no one else needs to wake up at night. It could be very taxing. After breastfeeding, let her go to sleep and then finish diapering, Burping and put them to sleep as the support partner.

Following the birth of a child, everything is blurred. Our life changes 180 degrees, it is exciting and scary at the same time.
I remember myself, even after my second child, a "pediatrician knows it all", coming back home with mixed feelings, and a need for help and guidance. As minor as it was - it was needed.
Research had suggested again and again that with the proper support for the mother and baby there is less mental harm for years to come. Even if there are only positive and joyful moments, adequate guidance will ensure you will pass the challenges with a feeling of accomplishment and success.
I offer to guide you in the first steps of becoming a family or widening your family. I will be honored to meet you at every step of the process, before, at, and after the birth.

I am a parent !!!

I remember my first day as a parent clearly, probably more than other important days in my life. I remember waking up after the surgery (that's another story) and looking for my daughter like an animal. I had to be watched so I won’t get out of bed.

It took them a long five minutes until they brought her to me, and this moment was magical. I wanted her to stay in my arms forever.

The thing is...I had no idea what I was doing. I knew I wanted to breastfeed, and that it should be as soon as possible, but how???

Many of us go through the same experience.

In the past 7 years I have been preparing parents for this exact moment, while practicing as a pediatrician.

I helped prepare all my family and close friends as I felt it is my duty to make sure they are prepared for their first steps in parenthood and breastfeeding.

If you are due in the next 1-3 months or know someone who is, I am offering a virtual/in-person meeting to help you prepare for the first days after birth.

Hi! My name is Ofri and I'm here in Toronto.
My plans were a bit different, yet here I am.
When you spend so much time alone, without the routine you're used to, you get the opportunity to rethink your life, your decisions.
It's been 9 months since I moved here, and somehow the free time quickly filled up with people I could help, which is amazing, because I've always been interested in doing good and making this world a better place to live in. How fulfilling it is.

I won't lie, I miss my old life, my family and friends, but I love being there for others.

Even Though I'm a pediatrician, my experience as a mother in the first steps of motherhood was almost impossible. Like many others, I experienced feelings of loneliness, uncertainty and disappointment - and that is what I'm looking to change for others.
Acknowledging that it is crucial to have someone to guide you as a new parent and help overcome the first days/weeks at home is a key, and I'm here to walk you through this overwhelming journey and together with you, learn about the tools that can make this journey a successful one.

I'm excited to be here and look forward to helping you.

Ofri.
