Happy World Hepatitis Day - let’s talk Hepatitis C. 💙
Over the past four months, our PATH Ontario team has provided on-site and remote HCV screening at multiple trueNorth locations in Southern Ontario, from Sarnia to St. Cartherine’s and in between. Our team has screened 167 individuals (yes, you read that right, 167!) in this small amount of time and are able to provide treatment to those who have tested positive for an active viral load of the virus.
Hepatitis C is passed blood to blood and can occur through breaks in the skin or in the lining of the nose and mouth. An individual can have Hepatitis C for years without showing symptoms or feeling sick (despite the virus damaging their liver during this time), and that’s why we have provided this opportunity for our patients to participate in our screening initiative, and in return, they get a Timmies gift card. ;-)
In August, we are expanding this initiative to cover more & different sites, all of which will be available to view on our website. Check out www.truenorthmedical.com/locations and if a site says “Hep C Screening: Month August” then we are offering remote HCV screening with our nurse Liza at this location Monday through Friday from 12:30PM to 4:30PM. We provide you with the testing apparatus, and Liza guides you through the process via a video call.
There is treatment available, all you have to do is get tested. 🎗
