It’s sometimes ironic to use phrases like ‘you’ve to move on’. Well, people eventually move on, not because it’s what they want to do but because they really have no other choice.
How many times have we thought that we can no longer handle a situation, yet, we wake up the next morning and continue our daily tasks. And day by day we gradually get over it without even noticing or deciding to.
The challenge becomes the process of moving on and how we change throughout the process.
People don’t get over pain, they go through it, passing through all the hard feelings and sadness it holds and feeling every single heartbreak. And in the process, people develop, grow, and reflect. We move on but with different views, different opinions, different positives and negatives in our personality, different strengths and weaknesses, different plans, goals, and priorities.
We end up moving on anyways, leaving behind a version of us that we may never go back to.

What’s depression?

To talk about depression one must first understand the difference between having depression and feeling depressed or sad. While both terms seem similar on the surface and many would use them interchangeably, they are still quite different and aren’t comparable.
Anyone could feel sad from time to time due to something as simple as a gloomy weather or an argument. But as soon as these circumstances go away the sad feelings would disappear too.
Clinical depression, on the contrary, is a mental illness that interferes with important daily activities like struggling to get work done, studying, and socializing and could be as sever as the inability to get out of bed.

Getting educated about depression is the first step to help those suffering from it. So be patient and raise awareness.

Welcome to Rays of Joy!

This is a non profit organization aiming to provide mental health support for people going through challenging times, depression, and anxiety and raise awareness through informative posts, presentations, and sessions, and the advises of health care providers in dealing with mental struggles.

With mental health, it’s not either feeling mentally ill or mentally well, instead, mental health is a continuum that we all go up and down across its ladder depending on many factors including genetics, life circumstances, and stressors. And just like physical health, mental health is equally important and not taking proper care of it limits the ability to be productive in many sectors of life. Depression, anxiety, and any other mental challenge isn’t something to be taken lightly or used as a tool to insult or judge others going through its painful process.

Let’s take time to understand what we go through and what other people go through and realize the difference between how everyone deals with mental challenges.
