November 2018 training Ecuador.
Sitting beside my good friend, teacher, studio owner, entrepreneur. Tamara Allers.
head of (AYTT) saw potential in me and encouraged me to come to a prior training to see what it was all about.
I thought these two awesome teachers were just going to teach a bunch of poses and sequences.
The very first word and lesson Cheryl taught us was the Sanskrit word for “selfless service” sevā
I always wondered how Cheryl kept her demeanor and overall body language so kind and inviting, as specially in the yoga room.
I know now through spending a lot of time with her that she teach s what she practices. Sevā. She is the true example of an authentic yoga teacher.
This lesson continues to evolve within me. I know that when I teach a yoga class it has nothing to do with me. It has everything to do with the student. Making them feel safe, included, empowered, and encouraged to find their own relationship with their yoga practice.
I now see the deeper lesson that Cheryl and Tamara were teaching me, and continue to teach me.
The lesson is to be a dharmic teacher. To teach with love and compassion and purpose, from a place of selflessness.
I remind myself to stay on that path. I remind myself every time I teach. Weather it is online, or in person.
If you are looking to travel again, and take an incredible teacher training, this is the one for you.
Reach out to to inquire.
200 hour teacher training is set to begin March 2021.
Who knows what will happen with the craziness of what is going on in the world. Hopefully we are back to in-person yoga and passing the practice on, teacher to student, in the same room.
Yoga isn’t just poses, physical movement, or sweat therapy.
It is so much more.
