Grateful to have been invited as a panelist for the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) Townhall, to speak about Yoga Therapy’s role in immigrant and refugee resilience and wellbeing.
This gathering was a true example of care — from the balance of voices on the panel to the intentional space created before and after to prepare and reflect together.
I shared why culturally relevant Yoga experiences matter, and how many wellness spaces often overlook African worldviews and healing traditions, leaving Black practitioners unseen. I spoke about my practice of Kemetic Yoga and how it continues to shape the work I do in community.
Kemetic Yoga offers a return to African-centered wellness, grounding healing in ancestral wisdom, symbolism, and connection.
Our panel collectively explored ways yoga therapists can deepen this work and create spaces where all communities can see themselves reflected and supported.
I’m so grateful for this opportunity to connect with other practitioners in this way 🙏🏾
