AT THE AGE OF 17, I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH HYPOTHYROIDISM

After many tests and numerous visits to the doctor, I was put on a pill which my body rejected. My Endocrinologist suggested to do a radioactive iodine treatment which lowers the thyroid hormone level to its regular production. Unfortunately, that destroyed my thyroid gland, production of the thyroid hormone and turned it into hypothyroidism.

At that point, I was prescribed Synthroid which is a drug that has strong side effects and must be taken for life. MY PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION

After years of struggle, major weight gain, and weighing 183lbs at my heaviest at the age of 29, I decided to take control of my life by setting a goal to compete with the WBFF in the transformation division in July 2018 in NYC. That decision changed my life. I placed 1st in Transformation and 3rd in Bikini. Fast forward to 2019 I competed in the WBFF Orlando show and placed 4th out of 10. Now I have set a new goal to get my WBFF Pro Card. HOW KAT INTERNATIONAL FITNESS BEGAN

I had no idea what I was doing all those years without the gym. The way it has made me feel mentally and emotionally is indescribable. It has instilled discipline in me, it has pushed me to my limits and beyond. It has brought out both physical and mental strength I did not know I had but above all it has allowed me to take back control of my life from hypothyroidism. The most important way it has changed my life is how it’s affecting those around me. The amount of people that have reached out asking for help and guidance with hypothyroidism, weight loss, goals to step on stage or to simply get their confidence back has been overwhelming and so inspiring. That became my calling card for the launch of KAT International Fitness.

Your thyroid is small… but when it’s off, your whole body feels it.

Energy. Mood. Weight. Digestion. Hair. Skin. Periods. Focus. Sleep.

So many women are walking around exhausted, bloated, inflamed, anxious, foggy, struggling with weight changes, losing hair, feeling cold, feeling wired but tired… and being told it’s “normal,” “stress,” or “just part of getting older.”

But symptoms are information.

And on World Thyroid Day, this is your reminder that your body is not betraying you. It’s communicating with you.

Whether it’s hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, Graves’ disease, thyroid nodules, or another thyroid-related condition, awareness matters because the sooner you understand what’s happening, the sooner you can stop blaming yourself and start supporting your body properly.

And no, the answer is not always more cardio, less food, more caffeine, or pushing harder.

Your thyroid needs support.
Your hormones need consistency.
Your body needs nourishment, recovery, strength, minerals, sleep, stress management, and proper testing.

You are not lazy.
You are not weak.
You are not crazy for knowing something feels off.

Listen to your body.
Ask better questions.
Advocate for proper bloodwork.
And build a lifestyle that supports your hormones instead of punishing your body.

I don’t give a f*ck about toxic wellness culture.

Not the obsession with the scale.
Not the “eat less, move more” advice that ignores hormones.
Not the pressure to wake up at 5AM when your body is screaming for recovery.
Not the endless trends, gadgets, resets, detoxes, or random workouts that keep women confused and disconnected from their bodies.

As a women’s wellness and hormone health coach, I care about what actually works:

Routine.
Repetition.
Protein.
Strength.
Sleep.
Stress management.
Blood sugar support.
Nourishment.
Consistency.

And yes… sometimes wellness is boring.
But boring works.

PCOS was never just about ovarian cysts.

Which is why the official renaming of PCOS to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) is such a powerful step forward in women’s health.

For years, women with PCOS have been dismissed, misunderstood, or told their symptoms were “normal” while struggling with:

fatigue
weight gain
insulin resistance
brain fog
bloating
inflammation
hair loss
irregular cycles
mood changes
and feeling completely disconnected from their bodies

This condition is about so much more than ovaries.

It’s about the entire body:

hormones
metabolism
blood sugar
stress response
inflammation
energy

and long-term health outcomes

Because the goal was never just about a number on the scale 🚫

It was about waking up with energy again.
Feeling confident in your clothes again.
Looking in the mirror and recognizing yourself again.

The scale cannot measure:
