Helping someone stand up is one of the most physically demanding parts of caregiving. Don't risk a back injury—follow these 3 "Safe-Stand" rules:

Use Your Legs: Bend your knees and push up with your leg muscles, never your back.

Stay Close: Keep the person’s center of gravity close to yours to maintain balance.

Clear the Path: Remove rugs or cords before you start the move.

One of the biggest impacts we can make is ensuring medical waste—especially sharps—stays out of our oceans and landfills. Improper disposal isn't just a safety hazard; it’s an environmental one.

The Sharps Disposal Dos & Don’ts:

✅ DO: Use a designated, puncture-resistant Sharps Container. Whether it’s a 1-quart travel size or a large 22L collector for clinics, keep them sealed.
✅ DO: Close the lid when the container is 3/4 full. Never overfill!
❌ DON’T: Throw loose needles or Syringes in the regular trash or recycling bin.
❌ DON’T: Use glass jars or soda bottles. They can break or be easily punctured, leaking waste into the ecosystem.
