But in all seriousness every morning we open our eyes, we have an opportunity to shape our lives to be exactly what we want them to be

Do you think you know for sure how your day is going to unfold?
We are setting ourselves for a major disappointment when we think we do know
Cause we don't :)

I have all the intention in the world to do what I have planned
Doesn't mean it is going to happen

I will still work hard
I will still move towards my goal
I will still do my best

But I will remain open to a possibility that it might not go as I planned
Remember, being able to adapt and adjust are the signs of a highly developed emotional intelligence
And motional intelligence is what helps us respond rather than react to curve balls life throws at us

There is roughly 7.9 billion people in the world right now, so there is about 7.9 billion whys.

If your why right now is to focus on your career, that's fine.
If you want to take a break from work and focus on family, that's fine too.
If you want to help humanity by volunteering, that's great.
If you want to work on yourself, that's amazing too.

Please, do not feel like you have to have a larger than life purpose.
All you are doing is putting even more pressure on yourself.
And creating an inevitable disappointment when your desired purpose has zero realization in your life.

Your why needs to be meaningful to you and you only.
You don't need to explain or justify it.
You are a unique being so why copy someone's why when you can create your one-of-a-kind one?

People are creatures of habit, once we have created a routine, it might be difficult to accept that it longer works for us.

One of the anchors of intentional living is emotional intelligence, it is your ability to manage your emotions. And one of the signs of the developed emotional intelligence is flexibility.

Being able to adapt and adjust to ever changing circumstances is a very important skill. It allows you to see new possibilities and opportunities where you wouldn't see them before.

So do not hold onto your old intentions, your old vision of self.
You have grown.
You have changed.

Think of where you need your focus right now.
What area of your life needs your attention?
Is it your boundaries?
Is it your relationships?
Is it your relationship with self?

👉Save this for a time when you feel stuck

Every period of growth and change is followed by the period of rest.

This is actually a great time to look around, appreciate the progress you have made and simply observe. Simply be.

Every step on your intentional living journey is meaningful even if it is a step in place.
We need this time to fully integrate the new routine, new habit, new outlook, new intention.
Being patient is hard as we want it here and now but it doesn't work like that.

One of the anchors of intentional living that I talk about in my guide is place of power.
It is a place where you go to recharge your batteries.
For some it is mountains, for others it is ocean. It can be a bench in the park or your favourite trail in the forest. But it is always connected to nature.
As nature teaches us about growth and about pause.

The season of rapid growth is followed by the season of appreciation of the growth.
Which is followed by the season of pause and rest.

So when you feel stuck, like you are not moving fast enough, try thinking that maybe you shouldn't be moving at all right now. Maybe it is your time to appreciate what you have learned.

Before you know it, you will be ready to work towards something else and this rest will make all the sense in the world.

Trust the journey.
It is so much easier when you do.

One of things we, as human beings do, we try to explain and rationalize our emotions. Because when it is explained and put away in a box, it makes us feel safe.

But sometimes it is perfectly fine NOT to do that.

I have had that happen to me a few times when I was stretching after the workout I could feel tears welling up and I just let them flow. I was focusing on the physical sensations rather then trying to understand why my body wants to cry.

I feel the tears in my eyes.
I can feel how the tear is running down my cheek.
I feel tension in my chest.

And then it is all gone.
But I feel lighter and calmer.

Maybe that was my stress from two days ago.
Maybe that was a way my body was taking care of itself releasing all the tension that built up inside of me.
I do not know.
And I do not really care.

Learning to observe and NOT analyze is a skill which helps us be kind to ourselves.
And when we are kind to ourselves we can extend that kindness to others.

🌿 Embracing Intentional Living 🌿

You know what happened when I started practicing intentional living?
My senses have come alive and I have been enjoying and fully experiencing the world around me.

The small stuff - the scent of lilac in my backyard, the warmth of sun in the window of my car when I am driving, the taste of a homemade meal that turn out to be especially delicious :)

Even the annoying birds outside my window at 5 am are not that annoying any more. I mean they are still there but it doesn't make my frustrated any more :)) They are welcoming the new day and so should I.

Intentional living has opened my senses to the beauty that surrounds me.
And the experience has been like no other.

Try this today.
Go to the park or sit on your deck or balcony and close your eyes.
What do you hear?
What do you smell?
What do you feel?

This short exercise will make you feel alive and grateful for the world that you are a part of.

I am sure you like the feeling of being in control.
Who doesn't?

During the first or the second session with a new client, we touch on the things we can control, things we can not control and how to let go of those that we cannot.

Doing just that helps them realize how much they can actually control in their lives.

Responding is all about that control.
This is your self-awareness.
And it comes with the ability to manage your thoughts, your emotions and as a consequence your actions.

And then I teach them that they can actually choose their emotions.
How cool is that?!

I truly believe that absolutely anyone can experience simplicity and calm of intentional living.

When things fall apart, when you find yourself in the middle of an overwhelm, it is hard to focus on gratitude. Been there, felt that.

But what I have noticed is that by focusing on what is going wrong I would bring myself even further on the downward spiral. Because your mind will keep playing those thoughts like a broken record if we do not consciously change them.

"I know I am struggling right now but I am going to call my friend and talk it over with her and I know things will feel better and I am grateful I have this wonderful person in my life"

"I am in a dark place now but I have an appointment with my therapist next week so I know help is coming my way and I am grateful I have this opportunity"

But if you do find it impossible to find anything that brings gratitude or joy, those could be the signs of depression and you need to seek professional help.

Please, take care of yourself today and focus on what you want more of in your life by actually doing it ❤

Healing is so important if you want to live an intentional life.

Addressing the issues that might be causing some anger, some resentment, some sadness is what brings clarity and balance.

And you are ten times more likely to follow with the intention when it is not forced, when it is not artificial but rather comes from a place of knowing self and being ok with this knowledge.

Literally, this is the essence of intentional living :)

By constantly having our eyes on future achievements we forget to stop and smell the roses.
Having goals is important.
Achieving these goals is also very important, otherwise why set them?

But disregarding the present just to succeed in the future is the opposite of intentional living

Today I went outside on my deck, sat on a chair and did nothing.
At first I was feeling anxious "Do I need to be doing something? How come I am just sitting? Can I even do that?"

But once this chatter stopped inside of me, I was able to take a deep breath and smell lilac that is in full bloom in our backyard. And that was so grounding! Lilacs have such a short blooming time and I was grateful to be outside and experience that.

Do this simple exercise today.
Go outside to your backyard, park, any nature that is close to where you live.
Sit there and do nothing even if it is for 10-15 minutes only.

No phone, no talking, just observing and letting yourself be grounded in the present moment ❤
