Ever wonder what those reddish/purple or blueish/green lines on the inside of your ankle or legs mean?

Those are your VEINS!

Veins are blood vessels found throughout the body to bring deoxygenated blood back to the heart ♥️. We have small, medium and large veins. Our veins have the harder job of working against gravity to bring blood back to the heart. Therefore, our veins rely on 2 major mechanisms to circulate blood.

👣 Our Calves🦵: Located at the back of our lower leg, pumps blood out of our legs and back towards our ♥️. The best way to improve circulation is to get moving. Every time the calf muscle contracts, it helps blood flow against gravity. If you don’t move for long periods of time, blood and toxins collect in the lower legs.

👣 In conjunction with our calves, veins have one-way valves that open & close to keep blood flowing towards the ♥️. Weakened or damaged valves can cause backflow of blood causing pooling of blood within the legs.

Symptoms of Venous Insufficiency include:

1)      Tired, heavy, achy legs
2)      Swollen legs
3)      Presence of Spider Veins 🕸️
4)      Brown discoloration of legs
