“Life is a game. Hockey is serious.”

At just three years old, Marcus was diagnosed with a rare condition that left him unable to walk.

Through months of rehabilitation, determination, and support, Marcus relearned how to walk, and discovered a passion for sport that changed everything.

Today, Marcus is a right winger for Team Ontario in sledge hockey, chasing his dream of one day playing for Team Canada in the Paralympics.

His story is a reminder that with the right support, determination, and care, anything is possible.

Meet Meena Kadiwal, a nurse practitioner with our Extensive Needs Service!

Meena joined Holland Bloorview about two years ago, drawn by the hospital’s strong rehabilitation focus and commitment to supporting children with complex neurological needs in a truly holistic way.

What stood out to Meena about Holland Bloorview was “the depth of interprofessional collaboration.”

Meena supports children and youth with complex neurological diagnoses and severe interfering behaviours. Her work centres on holistic, family‑centred care, helping clients progress in their rehabilitation and, whenever possible, supporting their transition back to home, school and community environments.
