At 27, I felt like I was losing myself. Irregular periods, cystic acne, and unwanted hair plagued me.

But I thought I was doing everything right 🤷🏻‍♀️

Here's what I learned about managing my PCOS hormones. ➡️

Most women who work with me inside The PCOS Repair Plan desire the same thing: to reclaim their feminine identity again.

They want to know that they’re fearlessly fertile, to stop the male-pattern hair growth, and to finally feel confident in their cycles and bodies again.

But here’s what holds most women back from reaching their PCOS goals:

1- The Silent PCOS Cycle:

Most women don’t realize that stress contributes to feeding your PCOS. In fact, you can eat healthy and do HIIT and this triggers the process without you knowing it. This hormonal process works behinds the scenes and makes you more insulin resistant which is one of the root causes.

2- Androgen Recycling:

Those nasty male hormones, called androgens, need an exit door. Lots of times, this door is bottle-necked. Toxic chemicals, poor digestion, and long-term use of birth control are all things that contribute to androgen recycling, which means your body keeps those male-patterned symptoms lingering because the hormones are stuck in your body without an exit.

3- Calorie restriction, keto diet, and points counting…

You’ve done them. I have too. Putting all of your attention on things you CAN’T have just brings more attention to those things. Let’s face it: restrictive plans never work long-term, because you should be able to eat pizza, cake, and a margarita on the weekend guilt free. And this is why you’re still longing for your feminine identity.

The good news is, this doesn’t have to be your fate.

Drop your favourite emoji in the comments if you want to know how to crack the code on reclaiming your feminine identity again, and I'll share a part 2!

4 herbal teas to help manage PCOS symptoms ⬇️
Double tap 🤍 & save this post for future reference!

Licorice root:
- Soothes an inflamed gastrointestinal lining
- Manages cortisol levels, which helps with cortisol-related PCOS symptoms like bloating & blood sugar
- Lowers testosterone
- Great for Adrenal- and Inflammatory-Type PCOS
- ⚠️ Don’t use this herb if you have high blood pressure!

Spearmint tea:
- 2 cups per day helps lower testosterone by increasing sex-hormone binding globulin (a protein that shuttles testosterone out of circulation).
- Great for testosterone-induced acne!

Green tea:
- Lowers an enzyme responsible for making a more potent form of testosterone known as DHT
- DHT is responsible for acne, hair loss, and hirsutism in those genetically prone to this conversion
- Matcha or pure green is a great option

Red raspberry leaf:
- Tones the uterus, so is great for any uterine congestion or blood stagnation that causes painful periods
- Helpful for PCOS fertility

Other key tips:
- Use loose leaf when possible
- Feel free to combine herbs
- Check with your practitioner before beginning herbal therapy as many botanicals interact with drugs, supplements, or should not be used in certain conditions

đź’«DYK: when these nutrients are low, you may experience symptoms like:

➡️ insulin resistance
➡️ irritability
➡️ acne
➡️ muscle pain or cramping
➡️ constipation
➡️ water retention
➡️ low mood/depression
➡️ anxiety
➡️ hair loss
➡️ and so much more.

🌱Improving nutrition can help! But, in addition to diet, it’s important to consider adequate absorption of these nutrients. And when necessary, supplement accordingly.

🌸 In fact, we want to see these levels in an OPTIMAL range for optimal health.

Consistency is really key 🔑 here… but with these principles, your PCOS healing is so possible!

Here’s the thing. We’ve been told so many lies when it comes to PCOS healing, like:
- Restriction of all carbs & sugar is necessary for PCOS healing
- HIIT is your only exercise solution
- Herbs and supplements don’t work - medication is the only answer
- Birth control is the only way to regulate your cycle
- Stress has no effect on your cycle and PCOS

Let’s get you heard.

Let’s get you on a consistent plan to PCOS management - to truly reverse the underlying issues contributing to your systems (insulin resistance, inflammation, dysregulated nervous system & cortisol).

On January 16, we begin a new round of The PCOS Repair Plan program, my 12-week program focused on coaching you mastering these fundamentals, for life-long PCOS management (and even reversal).

10 things worsening your PCOS symptoms that you might not even think about — which one of these was the most surprising?

1- tap water

Contaminated with estrogens, plastics, fluoride, pesticides, and other endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) shown to impact hormonal health including reproduction

I use + recommend Berkey filter

2- pesticides

Known reproductive toxins. Additionally, glyphosate (one of the most widely used herbicides), has been shown to disrupt gut microbiome, induce leaky gut, and is linked to cancer.

Shop Clean15 and DirtyDozen

3- lack of plant diversity

Monodiets reduce gut microbial diversity, may promote gut dysbiosis leading to inflammation and poor absorption of nutrients.

Consider probitoics if suited for you, like , but speak to a practitioner

4- processed meat

Known carcinogen. Higher in saturated fat, which worsens PCOS. Stay clear of nitrates.

5- refined sugar

The body can process moderate amounts just fine (ie eat your dessert); however, in excess promotes formation of cysts, weight gain, acne, hair loss.

Curb craving with Ovasitol

6- vegetable + seed oils

Higher levels of omega 6 compared to omega 3 in the body are what promote inflammation associated with things like painful periods, swelling, poor progesterone, and so much more.

Replace with EVOO and avocado oil

7- plastics

Contains BPA or BPA replacements linked with infertility; contributes to insulin resistance/resistant weight loss.

Replace water bottles with stainless steel like or glass like

3 myths you’ve been told about your PCOS >>>

✖️You will experience infertility when TTC ✖️ Many females feel so scared and discouraged about the future of their fertility when being diagnosed with PCOS. However, fertility is very likely achievable once the body begins to ovulate regularly again! If you’ve landed on my page, I hope I can instil a little bit of hope on your PCOS fertility journey!

✖️You have to completely cut out carbohydrates✖️Carbs are an essential macronutrient necessary for our bodies. When it comes to PCOS, it’s about balancing out these carbohydrates to slow down a blood sugar spike. We can do this through macronutrient pairing, and strategically eating our carbs after veg and protein. We can also add supplements to help with this!

✖️Medication is your only option✖️This is especially something I wish more young females, first getting diagnosed with PCOS would understand. In fact, did you know there are natural alternatives, like inositol and berberine, that work as effectively as metformin? Many medications come with extensive side effects that are often not explained to patients, either! There are SO many more options than metformin, hormonal birth control, and sprinolactone. And if you’re wondering what those are, you’re in the right place 👍

Which of these 3 myths were you led to believe? Drop your experience in the comments!

Swipe through to read about how Functional Blends will help support PCOS symptom management, based on your PCOS type!

These are some of my favourites not only for their incredible medicinal ingredients and efficacious dosing, but also because I can enjoy the flavours of the blends on their on, in smoothies, or chia puddings rather than popping another supplement in pill-form.

Which one will you try? Head to the link in my bio to shop - use code SAMANTH15 for 15% off your first order!
