*Update*
Hello Everyone,
On behalf of Aliza and her family, we wanted to thank everyone for the ongoing support in Aliza’s search for a living liver donor with blood type O+ or O-. We wanted to update you all on Aliza and her health journey as it progresses:
This past thanksgiving weekend, Aliza was and is still in the hospital. Luckily, we got special permission to bring Aliza’s sister to visit so we could spend the holiday together as a family. We took this opportunity to celebrate Aliza’s 6-month mark a few days early. We got her a cake, which she was excited to smash in a playful way. Then, Aliza’s sister read her stories from a children’s book and they ended the night watching TV. Watching the two, I am continuously reminded of how grateful I am for my loving family and the valuable time we have had to connect with one another.
As parents, it's difficult to see your newborn baby girl kept alive off machines. Aliza is now in this position where she can no longer live outside the hospital and must be connected to supportive care machines. Originally, Aliza had an NG tube so she could be fed, gaining the nutrients she lacks. Despite running a feed every 3 hours, Aliza was still not growing. Therefore, we’ve had to resort to TPN feeds, which is nutrition through an IV. Due to the high risk of infection through that line, Aliza can no longer leave the hospital until she is transplanted and no longer needs nutritional support. It is devastating and frustrating to be unable to help our child in a time of need after all parents are meant to protect their children. We fear that with every passing day, her liver gets worse, acting as a constant reminder that we are running out of time.
However, as a family, we live and fight for Aliza together, day by day. We believe, hope, and pray that Aliza’s angel will come forward to give the gift of lifesaving my little girl from pain and suffering. We remind ourselves to look to a bright future where Aliza is present with us and be able to live in this country like every other child here. We want to see her playing in the playground with friends, going to school, and eating without a tube. We strive to preserve her precious smile and laugh.
For anyone willing please help spread the word for Aliza by sharing her page or posts. If you wish to help by donating, the application health history form is included in the original post on this page! Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers. We greatly appreciate them.
Many thanks!
