Michael Fanous (They/Them)
Dr. Michael Fanous was an HIV/AIDS activist serving the LGBTQ+ community for more than 2 decades since they first started volunteering at the LGBT Youthline back in 2002. They are also the founder of medsEXPERT Clinic and Pharmacy on Church Street.

Dr. Fanous earned their doctorate in 2008 while working at Canada's largest HIV clinic, Maple Leaf Medical, before going on to work at various organizations in Toronto's Q***r Village. Michael was also involved in educational programs at local organizations including ACT, and others as well as being involved with research studies in HIV and gay men's health at Ryerson University and the University of Toronto.

In 2015, Dr. Fanous created “Allies Against Stigma” - a community team of q***r activists both HIV-positive and HIV-negative to promote better access to care and end HIV stigma in Toronto's q***r community.

Dr. Fanous was involved in ACT's programming for many years, including programs for newly diagnosed people and programs for youth.

He will be missed by many.
